Job summary

JBS Foods is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic in Omaha to inspect, repair, and maintain industrial equipment across a food production environment. You will dismantle and access machinery, replace worn parts, and perform preventive maintenance on drives, motors, belts, and fluid systems.

Ideal candidates have 2-3 years of industrial experience in a food setting, with basic computer skills and the ability to lift heavy objects. Flexibility for overtime and weekends is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred but not required.
• 2-3 years of industrial mechanic experience in a food industry environment preferred but not required.
• All relevant experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and test machinery to ensure proper functioning.
• Inspect mechanical equipment to locate damage, defects, or wear; replace worn parts.
• Dismantle machines and equipment to access and remove defective parts using hoists and tools.
• Disassemble equipment for maintenance or repair.
• Operate hoists or other moving or lifting equipment.

Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Location: Omaha

Reporting to: Maintenance Supervisor

Essential Job Functions:

• Inspect and test machinery to ensure proper functioning
• Inspect mechanical equipment to locate damage, defects, or wear replacing worn, damaged or defective mechanical parts as needed
• Dismantle machines, equipment, or devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, and hand tools, or power tools
• Disassemble equipment for maintenance or repair
• Operate hoists or other moving or lifting equipment
• Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or performing other preventive maintenance
• Inspect mechanical components to identify problems
• Trouble shoot electrical controls and components and repair as needed

Experience Required:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent, preferred but not required
• 2-3 years of industrial mechanic experience in a food industry environment preferred but not required
• All relevant experience will be considered

Skills/Abilities Required:

• Basic computer skills
• Must be able to climb ladders, lift heavy objects, work with a variety of hand and power tools and shop machines
• Must be able to work in extreme temperatures
• Knowledge of manufacturing/packaging equipment including hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, valves, cylinders, labeling equipment and conveyors
• Must demonstrate a strong work ethic, organizational skills, and the ability to learn quickly
• Must be able to work flexible hours, overtime and some weekends
