Job summary

TGD Cuts LLC in Jessup, MD is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for a fast-paced food processing/packaging facility. You will maintain production assets in a safe, sanitary condition and must have electrical experience.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, fabricating, installing equipment per blueprints, performing preventative maintenance, reading diagrams, and ensuring machine integrity. Shift options include 1st and 2nd shifts.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one to two years' experience in an industrial maintenance role with emphasis in a processing environment.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting bearings, belts, sheaves, sprockets, chains, and gear reducers and proper alignment of these drive devices.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Description

The qualified applicant should have a strong work ethic and desire to work in a growing fast paced food processing/packaging facility. Will be responsible for the maintenance of all property and production assets in a safe, sanitary and efficient condition. MUST have electrical experience.

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for staying up to date on new products, equipment, technology and techniques.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Observes mechanical devices in operation to locate causes of trouble.
  • Fabricate, disassemble and assemble production equipment to gain access to and remove defective parts
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on all equipment and troubleshoot/repair processing, filling and packaging production equipment.
  • Install, move, and relocate machinery/equipment according to blueprints and other drawings.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and equipment manuals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Lead or Supervisor

WORK SCHEDULE

1st shift: Monday - Friday 4am - 2pm

2nd shift: Monday - Friday 2pm - 10pm

Requirements
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of one to two years' experience in an industrial maintenance role with emphasis in a processing environment.
  • Maintain machines in good operating condition. Machinery consists of electronics (relays, electric solenoids and air solenoids); chain drivers; conveyors and roller conveyors
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting bearings, belts, sheaves, sprockets, chains, and gear reducers and proper alignment of these drive devices
  • Experience in inspection of all included below and the ability to make recommendations on the proper level of replacement and inspection|
  • Ability to make recommendations on spare parts, lock-out tag-out, guarding, and the level of operator involvement for proper machine integrity
TRAINING, SKILLS, LICENSES:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
WORKING CONDITIONS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet, loud, cold and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high places, chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk, use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds
