Job summary

Wallstreet Sand Co., based in West Texas near Kermit, is hiring Maintenance Helpers to assist Millwright Mechanics in keeping our sand mine and processing plant running safely and efficiently. The role combines physical labor, basic maintenance tasks, and housekeeping to minimize downtime.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, mining/industrial experience preferred, and MSHA Part 46 or Part 48 certification is desirable.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Equipment Support: Assisting Millwright Mechanics with repairs on heavy equipment and transporting tools/parts.
• Housekeeping: Sweeping shop floors, cleaning spillage, washing mobile equipment, and maintaining clean work areas.
• Basic Maintenance: Performing routine tasks such as greasing, painting bollards, and conducting pre-shift inspections.
• Safety Compliance: Adhering to safety orientations and reporting hazards or defective materials.

We are currently looking for Maintenance Helpers to support Millwright Mechanics in ensuring the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of all heavy machinery and structural components within our sand mine and processing plant facility. This position involves a mix of rigorous physical labor, preventative maintenance assistance, and heavy industrial housekeeping to minimize facility downtime and maintain a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Equipment Support: Assisting Millwright Mechanics with repairs on heavy equipment (haul trucks, dozers, conveyors) and transporting tools/parts.
• Housekeeping: Sweeping shop floors, cleaning spillage, washing mobile equipment, and maintaining clean work areas to comply with safety standards.
• Basic Maintenance: Performing routine tasks such as greasing, changing cutting edges, painting bollards, and conducting pre-shift inspections.
• Safety Compliance: Completing required safety orientations, adhering to MSHA regulations, and reporting hazards or defective materials immediately.

Requirements

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Prior experience in an industrial environment (mining, quarrying, cement plants, heavy manufacturing, or construction) is strongly preferred.
• Certifications: Current MSHA Part 46 or Part 48 certification is highly desirable (training will be provided to the right candidate).
• Skills: Basic knowledge of hand and power tools; mechanical aptitude; ability to follow multi-step safety lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to work in outdoor conditions, lift up to 50 lbs regularly, climb ladders/scaffolding, and stand or walk for long periods on uneven surfaces.
