Job summary

Independence TX LLC is seeking a Maintenance Technician to build and maintain sand plants and related equipment. The role requires welding, mechanical and electrical skills, with a focus on safety and compliance.

You will perform inspections, repairs, and assembly while working in varied weather conditions across plant systems. The ideal candidate has experience with arc welding, operating heavy equipment, and reading measurements.

Qualifications

• 3 years welding/mechanical experience; sand/aggregate plant experience a plus.
• Arc welder and cutting torch knowledge.
• Basic math and tape measure skills; rigging/lifting heavy objects.
• Conveyor belt tracking and alignment; sheave and pulley alignment.
• Ability to work at heights; hot and cold environments; safety conscious.
• Some heavy equipment operation (Skid Steer, Telehandler, Track Hoe/Backhoe).
• Valid driver's license and clean MVR.

Responsibilities

• Construct and assemble new sand plants; maintain and repair equipment.
• Perform welding, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, hydraulic, boiler, and air system maintenance.
• Adhere to safety regulations and inspect equipment per schedule; submit reports.
• Maintain and inspect components of sand plants: conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, structures, loads.

JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Technician to join our team. This role involves constructing and assembling new sand plants, as well as performing comprehensive maintenance and repair on all associated equipment. The ideal candidate will be proficient in various maintenance operations, adhere to safety regulations, and ensure all equipment is functioning optimally.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Construction & Assembly:

• Construct and assemble new sand plants.
• Ensure timely and effective maintenance and repair of all equipment within these plants.

Maintenance Operations:

• Perform maintenance tasks including welding, mechanical repairs, electrical work, plumbing, hydraulic repairs, boiler maintenance, and air system servicing.
• Adhere to technical specifications and safety regulations while carrying out maintenance duties.

Equipment Maintenance:

• Maintain equipment such as: feed systems, conveying systems, scrubber systems, shaker systems, classifying systems, discharge hopper systems, weigh systems, central mixer systems, load carrying systems, drive systems, water systems, air systems, electrical systems, crusher systems, hydraulic systems, recycling systems, structural systems, and other miscellaneous equipment.

Inspection & Reporting:

• Conduct inspections of equipment as per the company’s Prescribed Inspection Schedule.
• Complete and submit detailed equipment inspection reports.

Safety & Compliance:

• Comply with all safety regulations and maintain clean, orderly work areas.
• Conduct work in alignment with Federal and State mining laws, as well as Company policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.

Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 3 years welding/mechanical experience, sand and or aggregate plant experience a plus.
• Knowledge of using an arc welder and cutting torch.
• Knowledge of the components of sand plants such as (conveyor belt repair, gear boxes, bearings, structural welding and repair, trunnions, baghouses, elevators, silos, loadout spouts, slurry and freshwater pumps, wet and dry sand screens.
• Technical skills required- Ability to do basic math and read a tape measure, safely rigging/ lifting heavy objects, problem solving, sheave and pulley alignment, conveyor belt tracking and alignment, no issues with heights, ability to work in hot and cold environments.
• Some heavy equipment operation (Skid Steer, Telehandler, Track hoe/ Backhoe)
• Must have current drivers license and clean MVR

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a vocational or technical school program in diesel mechanics is preferred.
