Job summary

Hilton Garden Inn Albany/SUNY is seeking an experienced Maintenance Helper to join the maintenance team. The role performs repairs, supports preventive maintenance, and helps ensure a safe, clean environment for guests and staff.

You will assist with plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and HVAC tasks, respond to work orders, conduct inspections, and help maintain equipment and grounds. The position requires reliability and good teamwork.

Qualifications

• HS diploma preferred; maintenance experience valued.
• Basic knowledge of hand tools and maintenance practices.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently when assigned.
• Strong attention to detail and reliability; good communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assist maintenance technicians with repairs and maintenance projects.
• Perform basic plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and HVAC support tasks.
• Respond to work orders and maintenance requests promptly.
• Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and facilities.
• Assist with scheduled preventive maintenance activities.
• Replace light bulbs, air filters, batteries, and other basic components.
• Help maintain equipment and tools in good working condition.
• Support efforts to reduce equipment downtime and extend asset life.
• Maintain cleanliness and appearance of maintenance areas.
• Assist with repairs to furniture, fixtures, doors, locks, and windows.
• Help with landscaping, snow removal, and exterior property maintenance as needed.
• Move furniture, equipment, and supplies for hotel operations and events.
• Follow all hotel safety standards and maintenance procedures.
• Identify and report potential safety hazards.
• Use PPE properly and assist in OSHA/compliance efforts.
