Job summary

General Motors Manufacturing Group is seeking a Group Leader to guide a team of skilled hourly workers in troubleshooting and maintaining complex equipment. You will enforce SPQRCE principles, ensure safety, and support the shift toward electric and autonomous manufacturing.

This onsite role requires reporting to Tonawanda, NY, and managing maintenance operations with a focus on safety, quality, and cost efficiency. Opportunity to grow with upcoming openings and future opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum supervisory experience: 1 year direct team supervision or 5 months as GM per diem group leader.
• Ability to read electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic blueprints.
• Strong problem solving in fast-paced manufacturing.
• Excellent interpersonal and conflict management skills.
• Experience leading people and addressing performance concerns.
• Analytical ability to solve complex problems.
• Basic computer skills (Word, email).
• Must be willing to work weekends, overtime, and rotating shifts.
• Must be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and respond to the daily manufacturing plan and adjust operations as needed.
• Manage multiple tasks with competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Drive accountability through people and processes, including difficult conversations.
• Perform checks and tests and evaluate results.
• Proactively propose solutions to operational or technical issues.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and diagnose equipment malfunctions.
• Maintain productivity and quality in line with standards.
• Implement divisional and corporate safety and housekeeping practices.
• Collaborate with others outside the work group.
• Supervise labor, inventory, and machinery use effectively.
• Plan actions to complete jobs and projects.
