Job summary

The Out-of-Door Academy seeks a Maintenance/Grounds Technician to join our facilities department. Reporting to the Campus Supervisor, the Maintenance/Grounds Technician will oversee the upkeep of the grounds and facilities and perform a variety of general maintenance and repair tasks across carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry, and painting.

The role requires a safety-focused, team-oriented professional.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• OSHA 10 certification required or must be obtained.
• Comfortable working with technology.
• Self-directed, solution oriented, and works well with teams.
• Able to multi-task with attention to detail.
• Valid Florida driver’s license; CDL preferred.
• Pesticide use and storage certification preferred.
• CPR/AED/First Aid certification preferred; will be provided if needed.

Responsibilities

• Oversee upkeep of the grounds and facilities.
• Inspect campuses for safety and aesthetics; recommend long-term solutions.
• Perform maintenance and repair across carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry and painting tasks.
• Repair and treat structures such as floors, showers, sinks, walls, roofs, and carpets; adjust doors, cabinets, desks, and closets as needed.

Reporting to the Campus Supervisor, the Maintenance/Grounds Technician will be responsible for the following:

• Oversee the upkeep of the grounds and facilities.
• Continuously inspect campuses for safety, aesthetic needs, and correct accordingly or recommend long-term solutions.
• Perform a variety of work in the general maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds, including, but not limited to: carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry, and painting tasks.
• Repair and treat structures such as floors, showers, sinks, walls, roofs, and carpets. Perform minor troubleshooting, repairs and adjustments on doors, cabinets, desks, closets, etc.
• Live the school’s mission and core values of respect, integrity, service, excellence, and responsibility.

Qualifications

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

• High school diploma required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• OSHA 10 certified required or must be obtained.
• Must have knowledge of and be comfortable working with technology.
• Self-directed individual who is solution orientated, flexible and works well with teams and individuals while possessing a positive attitude.
• Able to multi-task with exceptional attention to detail.
• Must possess strong verbal and organizational skills.
• Must hold a valid Florida driver’s license, CDL preferred.
• Certification in the use and storage if pesticides preferred.
• Certification in CPR/AED/First Aid preferred, will provide upon hire if needed.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a 12-month full-time non-exempt, hourly position available immediately. Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
