Qualifications

This is a time-limited (NS-14) position housed within the Agency’s Office of Vocational Rehabilitation for the Blind (OVRB) and works in the Business Enterprise Program (BEP). The position involves working with and assisting legally blind persons in operating vending/cafeteria businesses throughout the state in state-owned and federal buildings. The incumbent in this position is responsible for overseeing the ordinary and preventive maintenance of vending and cafeteria equipment, as well as overseeing the delivery of vending and cafeteria equipment to and for legally blind entrepreneurs. In fulfilling this role, the incumbent will be required to travel throughout the state in order to inspect and perform any basic repairs or preventative maintenance when required on vending machines and restaurant equipment. Other duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:• Conducts routine inspections of business premises and equipment;• Undertakes basic repairs and maintenance to equipment;• Diagnoses mechanical issues on equipment and makes repairs;• Repairs and maintains premises as necessary;• Oversees and manages contractors when professional repairs are necessary;• Frequently travels to vending locations throughout the state;• Performs supervisory functions related to other employees;• Performs other related duties as assigned.

What you'll need to be Successful

Proven maintenance experience; Skilled in the use of hand and power tools; Ability to disassemble and reassemble machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts; Ability to read and interpret blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary; Ability to use common tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches; Experience with precision measuring instruments or electronic testing devices; Experience performing routine maintenance; Strong organizational and follow up skills; Strong time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Two (2) to four (4) years of experience with two (2) to four (4) of those years being in semi-skilled work is required. A high school diploma plus two (2) years of maintenance experience with restaurant/food service equipment is preferred.
