Job summary

State of Indiana is seeking a Maintenance Foreman for Madison Correctional Facility in Madison, IN. You will lead a full‑service maintenance team handling plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry and grounds tasks, Monday–Friday, 7.5 hours daily.

You may supervise incarcerated individuals and ensure safety, quality, and timely completion of work with strong customer service. Advancement opportunities exist to supervisory roles; a valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Broad knowledge of electrical systems, carpentry, plumbing and painting trades.
• Ability to plan, schedule and supervise job sites.
• Ability to fill in for other foreman to ensure operation of the department.
• Read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and other remediation plans and documents.
• Knowledge of OSHA standards, MSDS, and safety precautions across trades.
• Plan and estimate project proposals in terms of equipment, hours and costs.
• Able to endure inclement weather.
• Delegate work, set direction, and manage workflow.
• Coach and develop employee skillsets.
• Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Oversee repair and preventive maintenance of the facility across trades.
• Solicit cost estimates and patch cost proposals for projects.
• Supervise incarcerated individuals when needed.
• Ensure safety, quality, and compliance with procedures.
• Recruit, onboard and train employees; provide ongoing feedback.
