Job summary

The State of Indiana is seeking a Maintenance Foreman for Madison Correctional Facility in Madison, Indiana. The role oversees repair and preventive maintenance across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry and grounds, with a Monday–Friday schedule of 7.5 hours per day.

Supervises incarcerated individuals as needed and supports a safety-first, service-oriented team environment. Salary traditionally starts at $42,900 and may be commensurate with education and experience.

Qualifications

• Broad knowledge of electrical systems, carpentry, plumbing and painting trades.
• Ability to plan, schedule and supervise job sites.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and other remediation plans and documents.
• Thorough knowledge of OSHA standards, MSDS, hazards and safety precautions.
• Ability to plan and estimate project proposals in terms of equipment, man hours and costs.
• Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

Madison Correctional Facility is a minimum‑security facilitylocatedin Madison, Indiana, housing more than 900 incarcerated adult females. Set near the Ohio River andadjacent toClifty Falls State Park, the facility provides both on‑grounds and off‑grounds work opportunities. It includes a 72‑bed work‑release program that supports re‑entry preparation. Role Overview:

As a Maintenance Foreman you will be responsible for the repair and preventive maintenance needs of the facility. We are a full-service maintenance team that handles a wide variety of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and grounds issues. You will be working Monday through Friday, 7.5 hours a day. In addition, you will be supervising Incarcerated Individuals when needed. We provide excellent customer service and utilize best security/safety practices. A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

• Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees. Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.

What You'll Need for Success:

Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:

• Broad knowledge of electrical systems, carpentry, plumbing and painting trades.
• Ability to plan, schedule and supervise job sites.
• Ability to fill in for other foreman to ensure the operation of the department.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and other remediation plans and documents.
• Thorough knowledge of standard practices, processes, materials, procedures, and the ability to use tools and equipment of the various trades, such as carpentry, plumbing and electrical.
• Thorough knowledge of the OSHA standards, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), occupational hazards and safety precautions required of the various trade areas.
• Ability to plan and estimate project proposals in terms of equipment, man hours and costs.
• Ability to endure exposure to inclement weather.
• Ability to delegate work, set clear direction, and manage workflow.
• Ability to effectively give feedback, provide guidance or corrective action, coach, and develop employee skillsets.
• Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.

This role provides supervision for incarcerated individuals and requires a high level of judgment and care.
