Job summary

Briggs & Stratton, LLC. seeks a facilities/maintenance helper to support a busy plant in New York. You will operate equipment for baling recyclable material, assist with loading/unloading, and perform basic mechanical and cleaning tasks. Responsibilities include landscaping, snow removal, and turning in shipping documents.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, is fluent in English, and can lift 25–50 lbs with prior industrial experience preferred. Full-time on-site hours.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor equipment for baling recyclable material and keep areas clean.
• Load, unload, and separate recyclable material; manage incoming loads and truck coordination.
• Maintain equipment with basic repairs and cleaning tasks.
• Perform landscaping, snow removal, and general site maintenance.
• Carry out light mechanical duties and floor repair tasks.
• Turn in bills of lading and operate industrial power trucks as needed.
• Conduct janitorial duties and restock supplies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Description

Performs a variety of duties to assist in facilities maintenance.

Job Responsibilities

1. Operates and monitors equipment for baling recyclable material according to prescribed procedures and keeps scrap areas clean and orderly.
2. Regulates and assists with the loading, unloading and separation of recyclable material as instructed; schedules incoming loads of recyclable material; and orders, coordinates, and scales incoming and outgoing scrap trucks.
3. Cleans and maintains equipment, such as; changing coils, greasing, unjamming, etc.
4. Performs landscaping duties and landscape maintenance, including plowing, shoveling, removing snow and ice from main drives, parking areas, and all walkways. Salts/sands as necessary. Mounts and dismounts plows, tailgate spreader, and other attachments to and from trucks.
5. Performs light mechanical duties.
6. Turns in bills of lading.
7. Operates and maintains industrial power truck to move scrap, clean shop areas, insures that scrap is placed in proper containers.
8. Performs floor repair duties and general rough mechanical work. Mixes, pours, and trolls cement.
9. Performs general janitorial duties, including sweeping, mopping, emptying trash receptacles, restocking supplies, and cleaning restrooms, break areas, and offices.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

• Moderate physical demand; often lifting/moving average weight (25 to 50 lbs/11-27 kgs), and occasionally lifting heavy weight materials (up to 70 lbs)
• Somewhat disagreeable or hazardous conditions.
• Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours)
