Job summary

Simon Pearce in Windsor, VT is seeking a Maintenance / Fabrication Lead to maintain and improve electrical, combustion, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and control systems supporting manufacturing operations. Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience with increasing levels of responsibility.

  • Experience with combustion systems, process heating equipment, or industrial manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong working knowledge of industrial electrical systems, motor controls, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial electrical, mechanical, pneumatic systems.
  • Performs preventive and predictive maintenance to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Diagnoses equipment failures and implements best practice corrective actions.
  • Maintains and repairs motors, drives, pumps, compressors, fans, and process equipment.
  • Troubleshoots electrical systems, including power distribution, motor controls, control panels, sensors, PLCs, and instrumentation.
  • Supports and maintains combustion systems, process heating equipment, glassmaking equipment, pottery kilns, and associated controls.
  • Fabricates, modifies, and repairs equipment, tooling, fixtures, and production support systems.
  • Designs and implements practical solutions to improve safety, reliability, productivity, and maintainability through custom tooling.
  • Supports the development and installation of new manufacturing equipment and facility improvements.
  • Serves as a technical leader within the Facilities Department.
  • Assists in prioritizing maintenance activities and coordinating daily work assignments.
  • Leads troubleshooting efforts during critical equipment failures.
  • Supports capital projects, facility upgrades, and equipment installations.
  • Maintains accurate maintenance records and documentation.
  • Updates equipment drawings, schematics, and maintenance procedures as necessary.
  • Manages inventory levels for maintenance parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Communicates effectively with production, operations, and management teams regarding equipment status and project progress.

Position Summary: The Maintenance / Fabrication Lead is a highly skilled industrial maintenance professional responsible for maintaining and improving the electrical, combustion, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and control systems that support Simon Pearce's manufacturing operations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability of production equipment, building infrastructure, and utility systems. This role combines strong technical expertise with leadership, problem‑solving, and fabrication skills to support continuous operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This is a hands‑on leadership position requiring a strong work ethic, excellent troubleshooting ability, and a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. The Maintenance / Fabrication Lead will participate in an on‑call rotation and provide emergency response support as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Reliability
  • Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs industrial electrical, mechanical, pneumatic systems.
  • Performs preventive and predictive maintenance to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Diagnoses equipment failures and implements best practice corrective actions.

Fabrication & Equipment Development
  • Fabricates, modifies, and repairs equipment, tooling, fixtures, and production support systems. Through welding, cutting and other fabrication processes.
  • Designs and implements practical solutions to improve safety, reliability, productivity, and maintainability through custom tooling.
  • Supports the development and installation of new manufacturing equipment and facility improvements.

  • Serves as a technical leader within the Facilities Department.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • The work exposes the employee to UV light, extreme heat, and equipment that is hot to the touch.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration.

  • Participation in an on‑call rotation is required.
