Job summary

Naval Station Great Lakes' Community Recreation Branch, Recreation Division, Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Department is seeking a skilled equipment technician. The role requires hands-on experience repairing a wide range of gear, from boats to bikes and engines, and the ability to safely operate a forklift.

Candidates must be organized to establish regular maintenance cycles, able to learn MWR policies, and capable of clear oral and written communication.

Qualifications

• Experience in repairs of a wide variety of equipment.
• Knowledge in boat handling, use of cutting equipment, bike repairs, and engine repairs.
• Must have a license to operate a 6K forklift.
• Must be organized and capable of establishing regular cycle for equipment preventative maintenance.
• Must be able to learn MWR policies, rules, and regulations, involving the Community Recreation program.
• Must have ability to communicate orally and in writing.
• Successful completion of a national Agency check is required.
• Employee is required to have a valid state drivers' license.
• Position may require irregular working hours.
• Obtain Emergency First Responder or CPR Certification, Food Handlers, and CARE training where applicable within the first 90 days of employment.
