Job summary

Franciscan Health Crown Point is seeking an experienced Manager of Engineering to lead maintenance and regulatory compliance across hospital facilities. You will oversee systems management, lifecycle planning, and the budgeting process to ensure a safe and compliant environment.

The role requires strong leadership, policy development, and collaboration with contractors to manage capital projects and preventive maintenance programs. Travel is up to 20% as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 10+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
• 5 years of relevant engineering, hospital maintenance, or construction experience.
• 10 years of hospital maintenance or construction experience preferred.
• Trade license, Lean Six Sigma - Green Belt, CHFM, and PMP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and manage policies and a budget, ensuring cost control and expenses are in alignment with the budget.
• Maintain hospital computerized maintenance management system through assignment of work orders, PMs and equipment history.
• Maintain inventory of facility replacement equipment and components at appropriate levels.
• Oversee facility safety and regulatory requirements and ensure quality and compliance standards are met.
• Perform facility and systems management including PM development, repairs, safety, risk, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, and life-cycle planning.
• Provide funding requests for operational and capital facility needs aligned with budgets.
• Supervise direct reports and drive a high-performing team.

The Manager of Engineering provides maintenance, regulatory compliance, and systems management services for hospital facilities, under the direction of the Director of Engineering. This position assesses, troubleshoots, and procures facility maintenance and compliance requiring design, life-cycle planning, repair, replacement, or new installation. They perform duties in compliance with all applicable regulatory standards and policies. The Engineering Manager supervises the personnel and work processes to successfully undertake, and completes the facility operational functions to provide a comfortable and safe hospital environment.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

• Develop, implement and manage policies and a budget, ensuring cost control and expenses are in alignment with the budget.
• Maintain appropriate documentation for facility equipment, systems, and components.
• Maintain hospital computerized maintenance management system through the appropriate assignment of work orders, development, and assignment of preventative maintenance orders, completion of work orders, and the recording equipment history.
• Maintain inventory of facility replacement equipment and components at appropriate levels.
• Make decisions for direct reports and performs people management activities such as performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, staff planning, and interviews.
• Manage contracts for facility equipment, systems, and components maintained by contractors or vendors.
• Oversee the facility safety and regulatory requirements and ensures that quality and compliance standards are met.
• Perform facility and systems management including PM development, repairs and maintenance, safety, risk, scheduling, quality control, budgeting, procurement, facility and system assessments, and life-cycle planning.
• Provide funding requests for operational, non-threshold capital, and threshold capital facility needs in alignment with submitted operational, non-threshold, and threshold budgets.
• Provide quality control for maintenance, new installations or replacements of facility equipment, systems, and components performed by others.
• Supervise direct reports and manages the performance of individuals through ongoing coaching, feedback, and development to motivate, engage and drive a high performing team.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Engineering, or related field required (10 years of relevant experience required in lieu of degree)
• 5 years of relevant engineering, hospital maintenance, or construction experience required
• 10 years of hospital maintenance or construction experience preferred
• Trade License, Lean Six Sigma - Green Belt, Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM), and Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred
