Job summary

Atrium in Chicago Heights, IL, is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to maximize plant efficiency by optimizing utilities and reducing downtime across production units. You will lead preventive and predictive maintenance, analyze failures, and drive continuous improvements to ensure safe, reliable operations.

You will supervise technicians, oversee capital projects, coordinate with operations, and manage maintenance data to identify opportunities for long-term reliability gains.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering experience in chemical manufacturing, food processing, or similar industrial environments.
• Knowledge of industrial maintenance methodologies including PM, PDM, CMMS, RCM, and TPM.
• Understanding of engineering standards and safety practices.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience coordinating, training, and motivating maintenance personnel and contractors.
• Strong communication and technical writing skills.
• Ability to estimate, plan, schedule, and complete work orders effectively.
• Experience managing budgets and estimating project costs.
• Knowledge of capital expenditure management and return-on-investment principles.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operation and performance of facility utility systems and report usage metrics.
• Drive reliability and asset performance improvements through proactive maintenance.
• Collaborate with production teams to improve operational efficiency and uptime.
• Act as technical SME for utility systems and maintenance processes.
• Support maintenance technicians with engineering expertise and troubleshooting.
• Conduct failure analyses and implement corrective actions.
• Evaluate and enhance preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Maintain communication with operations leadership to align priorities.
• Identify and source parts and resources for maintenance and repair.
• Lead capital and process improvement projects from concept through execution.
• Analyze equipment performance trends to identify long-term reliability opportunities.
• Manage third-party providers to ensure safe, effective work.
