Job summary

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel El Paso Downtown is seeking a Hotel Maintenance Engineer to support daily engineering operations and ensure guest comfort. Responsibilities include maintenance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing and boiler systems, responding promptly to service calls, and keeping water, air and electrical equipment in top condition.

Ideal candidates have hotel maintenance experience, vocational training or certification, ability to read blueprints, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Ability to read blueprints, schematics and parts breakdowns
• Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing and boiler systems
• Comfort with coordinating work orders and notifying supervisor of delays
• Strong communication and self-initiative required

Responsibilities

• Respond to service calls within 30 minutes of notification
• Complete work orders accurately and daily; inform supervisor of delays
• Maintain pools, filters and pumps daily
• Adjust televisions and program boxes as needed
• Change light bulbs and ballasts promptly
• Replace air filters on AC units regularly
• Repair vacuum cleaners and return to service within 2 days
• Clean up grounds, garages and parking lots

What you will be doing

• Respond to all service calls within half hour from time call is received.
• Accurately and efficiently complete all assigned work orders on a daily basis. Inform supervisor of any incomplete orders for rescheduling.
• Efficiently maintain pools, filters and pumps on a daily basis.
• Efficiently adjust televisions and program boxes.
• Change light bulbs and ballasts as soon as reported or noticed.
• Efficiently replace air filters on AC units on a regular basis.
• Accurately and efficiently repair vacuum cleaners, returning them to service within two (2) days.
• Clean up grounds, garages and parking lots.

What we are looking for

• Previous hotel engineering experience required, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, commercial kitchen and general building construction
• Vocational training, associate's degree, certification and/or apprenticeship in one or more area; state certification or licensure where required
• Understand and efficiently maintain and operate advanced electrical, plumbing, refrigeration and boiler systems.
• Read and understand blueprints, schematic drawings and technical parts breakdown.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written
• High work ethic and self-initiative
• Physical Requirements (In-Office Role)
• Ability to work in a standard office environment.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. (6-8 hours a day)
• Occasional standing and walking throughout the workday.
• Frequent fine motor skills, use of hands and fingers for keyboarding/typing, utilizing a mouse or trackpad, writing, and operating office equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, reach, or carry items.
• Ability to lift and/or move 10-25 pounds as needed (e.g., files, office supplies).
• Visual ability to read from a computer screen and printed materials including close visual focus for extended periods and color differentiation (for certain roles).
• Ability to hear and participate in conversations and meetings, use phone and/or headset
