Job summary

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel El Paso Downtown is seeking a hotel maintenance engineer to handle day-to-day maintenance tasks across HVAC, electrical, plumbing and building systems. You will respond to service calls promptly, complete work orders, and perform routine upkeep of pools, lighting, and amenities on-site.

Ideal candidates have hotel engineering experience and relevant vocational training, with strong communication and the ability to read blueprints.

Qualifications

• Experience in hotel engineering including HVAC, electrical, plumbing.
• Vocational training or certification in a related area.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Respond to service calls within 30 minutes of receipt.
• Complete assigned work orders daily and notify supervisor of incomplete orders.
• Maintain pools, filters and pumps daily.
• Adjust televisions and program boxes as needed.
• Change light bulbs and ballasts promptly.
• Replace air filters on AC units regularly.
• Repair vacuum cleaners and return them to service within 2 days.
• Clean grounds, garages and parking lots.

What you will be doing

• Respond to all service calls within half hour from time call is received.
• Accurately and efficiently complete all assigned work orders on a daily basis. Inform supervisor of any incomplete orders for rescheduling.
• Efficiently maintain pools, filters and pumps on a daily basis.
• Efficiently adjust televisions and program boxes.
• Change light bulbs and ballasts as soon as reported or noticed.
• Efficiently replace air filters on AC units on a regular basis.
• Accurately and efficiently repair vacuum cleaners, returning them to service within two (2) days.
• Clean up grounds, garages and parking lots.

What we are looking for

• Previous hotel engineering experience required, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, commercial kitchen and general building construction
• Vocational training, associate's degree, certification and/or apprenticeship in one or more area; state certification or licensure where required
• Understand and efficiently maintain and operate advanced electrical, plumbing, refrigeration and boiler systems.
• Read and understand blueprints, schematic drawings and technical parts breakdown.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written
• High work ethic and self-initiative
• Physical Requirements (In-Office Role)
• Ability to work in a standard office environment.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. (6-8 hours a day)
• Occasional standing and walking throughout the workday.
• Frequent fine motor skills, use of hands and fingers for keyboarding/typing, utilizing a mouse or trackpad, writing, and operating office equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, reach, or carry items.
• Ability to lift and/or move 10-25 pounds as needed (e.g., files, office supplies).
• Visual ability to read from a computer screen and printed materials including close visual focus for extended periods and color differentiation (for certain roles).
• Ability to hear and participate in conversations and meetings, use phone and/or headset
