Qualifications

  • 2–3+ years of maintenance/engineering or skilled-trade experience in hospitality or commercial environments.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision across multiple building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, life-safety).
  • Solid technical troubleshooting and repair skills across multiple trades.
  • EPA 608 certification preferred; other trade certifications a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs across guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.
  • Complete preventive maintenance programs for building systems and equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals; operate building automation controls.

Job OverviewThe Maintenance Engineer II is a skilled, mid-level member of the Engineering team responsible for the repair, upkeep, and preventive maintenance of hotel facilities, guest rooms, and building systems. Working under general supervision, the Maintenance Engineer II diagnoses and resolves issues across multiple trades, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC/refrigeration, and life-safety ensuring all systems operate safely and in compliance with applicable state and local codes, and assists senior engineers on complex repairs.Job ResponsibilitiesMaintenance OperationsPerform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs across guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.Troubleshoot and repair issues involving plumbing, electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, appliances, carpentry, and basic building automation systems.Install, replace, and repair fixtures, fittings, equipment, and system components to code and manufacturer specifications.Ensure all building systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable state and local codes.Preventive MaintenanceComplete assigned preventive maintenance programs for building systems and equipment.Conduct detailed inspections of guest rooms and facilities to identify and correct issues before they escalate.Identify recurring problems and report them to engineering leadership.Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and documentation in the property's work-order system.Guest ExperienceRespond promptly and professionally to guest maintenance requests, resolving issues on the first visit whenever possible.Complete repairs efficiently and discreetly while minimizing guest disruption.Maintain a courteous and service-oriented approach in all guest interactions.Uphold a consistently high standard of room and facility readiness and quality.Building Systems & EquipmentOperate, maintain, and repair HVAC, refrigeration, boilers, chillers, lighting, plumbing, pool/spa, and mechanical systems.Perform installations, calibrations, and repairs of hotel equipment and building automation controls.Monitor system performance and energy usage, adjusting operations to ensure safe, efficient function.Assist senior engineers with complex repairs and support the team as needed.Safety & ComplianceFollow all hotel safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.Identify, correct, and report unsafe conditions or hazards immediately.Use tools and equipment safely and maintain a clean, organized work environment.Ensure compliance with building, fire and life-safety, state/OSHA, and operational safety standards.Tools & InventoryProperly use, maintain, calibrate, and store tools and equipment.Track maintenance supplies and parts inventory and report shortages or reorder needs.Maintain organization and cleanliness of maintenance shops and storage areas.Ensure responsible, cost-effective use of materials and resources.Collaboration & CommunicationWork with engineering leadership and team members to complete assigned projects.Coordinate with housekeeping, front office, and outside contractors to support guest and operational needs.Communicate technical issues clearly and escalate concerns appropriately.Support team members and share knowledge as needed.Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in a building trade strongly preferred.Experience: 2–3+ years of maintenance, engineering, or skilled-trade experience required, preferably in a hospitality or commercial environment, including the ability to work with limited supervision on a range of building systems.
