Job summary

The Courtyard/Residence Inn, Las Colinas in Irving, Texas is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to oversee daily and preventative maintenance of hotel facilities, rooms, and public areas. You will handle routine repairs, respond to maintenance requests, and work to keep equipment in good repair in line with operating standards.

You will prioritize tasks, monitor safety systems, and coordinate with other departments to ensure guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Experience in general trades such as light plumbing, minor electrical, painting, drywall, and general repairs.
• Ability to work a varied schedule to address property emergencies.
• Certified Pool Operator certification is desired.
• Basic computing and MS Office knowledge to complete work orders and maintenance logs.
• Written and verbal skills needed to complete job responsibilities.
• 1-2 years' experience in a hotel, multi-unit residential or commercial building environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform day‑to‑day routine and preventative maintenance within the hotel rooms and public areas.
• Respond promptly to maintenance calls from guests or other departments and resolve issues.
• Prioritize maintenance tasks, e.g., attend to plant and machinery breakdowns on priority.
• Perform maintenance activities in guest rooms and public areas including minor electrical, plumbing and air conditioning.
• Monitor fire alarm and life-safety systems and follow emergency procedures.
• Test, troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and water systems.
• Communicate with different departments and provide information and assistance.
• Inspect completed work and release rooms back to service using hotel PMS or other software.
• Perform preventative maintenance to ensure equipment meets required standards.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas; train staff and share knowledge.
• Maintain exterior upkeep to keep the property welcoming for guests.
• Adhere to property safety protocols and OSHA standards.

About this position

Description:

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the engineering and maintenance operations within the?hotel, including general property maintenance, are working properly and up to the hotel's operating standards. They will also keep all equipment in good repair and providing day-to-day maintenance support to the hotel. Additionally, work towards and support the improvement of engineering service to?guests, other departments and co-workers.

• Perform day-to-day routine and preventative maintenance within the hotel rooms and?public areas.
• Respond promptly and efficiently to any maintenance calls that arise either from the guest or other departments.
• Respond courteously and promptly to?guest requests?and resolve matters to the guest’s satisfaction.
• Ability to prioritize the maintenance issues e.g.: to attend the breakdown of plant and machinery on priority.
• Perform maintenance activities in the guest rooms and public areas including minor electrical equipment, plumbing and air conditioning.
• Monitor?fire?Alarm / Life?Safety?System systems as necessary, to be fully informed of the system operation and how to handle?emergencies?involving the systems.
• Understand and operate electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and water systems. Be able to test, troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on systems.
• Communicate?with different departments and provide them with information and assistance.
• Check for and assign new maintenance requests, inspect work when complete and release room back to service using hotel PMS or other software.
• Perform preventative maintenance in guest rooms and common areas as scheduled to ensure all equipment is maintained to the required standard.
• Maintain all tools, equipment, and working areas in good condition.
• Train and instruct other members of the staff through sharing knowledge and skills.
• Perform general maintenance and upkeep of the exterior of the facility to ensure it is inviting and welcoming to guests.
• Adhere to all property safety protocols and OSHA Safety Standards.
• Maintain professionalism with coworkers and residents while working in and around the community.?

Physical Requirements:

• Must tolerate prolonged periods of standing, walking; occasional kneeling, bending, stooping, and climbing stairs or ladders.
• Some locations may require the ability to work in inclement weather conditions. e.g. clearing snow & ice or working outdoors in extreme heat.
• Must tolerate exposure to cleaning solutions.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds as needed.
