Job summary

Elevait Solutions in Hickory, NC, is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to lead facilities projects, upgrade critical building systems, and ensure reliable operation of HVAC, water treatment, and silo controls across a major production site.

You will coordinate internal teams and external contractors, develop scope, schedule, and cost estimates, and maintain regulatory compliance while pushing continuous improvements.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage equipment upgrade and replacement plans and building upgrades.
• Manage facilities engineering projects from planning through completion.
• Maintain and upgrade control systems for chilled water, water filtration, and building automation.
• Coordinate outside vendors and contractors for HVAC, chillers, roofing, and plumbing.
• Establish project plans including scope, schedule, cost estimates, and procurement strategy.
• Provide project management and coordination for key facilities projects.
• Evaluate and verify justification for proposed projects.
• Build project teams with plant staff and outside contractors.
• Prepare and route appropriation requests as needed.
• Support plant safety and environmental programs, ensuring regulatory compliance.

What You'll Do

• Develop and manage equipment upgrade and replacement plans and building upgrades
• Manage facilities engineering projects from planning through completion
• Maintain and upgrade control systems for chilled water, water filtration, compound delivery and silos, and building automation
• Coordinate outside vendors and contractors for HVAC, chillers, roofing, doors, cleaning, plumbing, exhaust fans, lawn care, and snow removal
• Establish project plans including scope, schedule, cost estimates, and procurement strategy
• Provide project management and coordination for key facilities projects
• Evaluate and verify justification for proposed projects
• Build project teams with plant staff and outside contractors

What We Need From You

• 10+ years of experience in facilities related project management, including work with subcontractors on building maintenance and repair
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering concepts
• CAD software proficiency
• Proven project management experience
• Strong problem solving, decision making, and communication skills

Preferred/Bonus

• BS degree in an Engineering field
• AutoCAD experience specifically
• Experience with raw materials systems, pollution abatement systems, compressed air systems, or chilled water systems
