Description

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for assisting with the operation, maintenance, service, and repair of equipment as assigned. He/she participates in the preventative maintenance program, handles guest requests, and completes other work orders as assigned. The role requires performing tasks in a safe and efficient manner, including trade jobs such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, etc. May also require driving a shuttle van when needed (property specific).

Requirements

1. Assist with the operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment, including:

• Changing light bulbs
• Performing preventative maintenance for guest rooms, ice machines, refrigerators, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, HVAC, swimming pool, and hot tub
• Minor repairs such as vinyl repair, touch-up painting, furniture repair, caulking, and tile repairs
• Plumbing repairs, laundry equipment repairs, and preventative maintenance on exhaust fans and supply systems
• Monitoring energy conservation and repairing small equipment like vacuum cleaners

Respond immediately to alarms, determine emergency status, and report findings to the Front Desk

Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor or manager

Maintain cleanliness of the exterior parking lot and trash receptacles

Perform minor landscaping tasks such as weed pulling

Assist housekeeping in maintaining public areas

Assist with guest transportation if shuttle service is available

Record work completed in the CORE program and maintain stock of necessary mechanical items

Advise the General Manager on equipment or supply needs and maintain the building properly

Assist in the breakfast area as needed, including dishwashing, restocking, sweeping, mopping, cleaning surfaces, and moving trash

Qualifications

• Experience in a hotel or related field preferred
• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Valid driver’s license for the applicable state (property specific)
• Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (property specific)
• Willingness to work a varied schedule including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays

Physical Demands

Ability to stand and walk for 90% of workday, lift and carry up to 65 lbs, and perform bending and stooping. Work is indoors in a well-ventilated area.
