Job summary

Monticello Public Schools is seeking a Maintenance/Custodial staff member for the Middle School, with hours 5:00am to 1:30pm, Monday through Friday, to perform routine upkeep, cleaning, and safety tasks.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, ability to lift up to 50 pounds (75-100 occasionally), and strong teamwork; pre-employment background check and board approval apply.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative maintenance upkeep on equipment.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance.
• Assist with major repairs and maintenance.
• Monitor boiler operation as needed and report concerns.
• Maintain maintenance records and inventory.
• Perform routine grounds upkeep including mowing, snow removal, picking up garbage, and keeping entrances clean.
• Clean, scrub, strip, seal, wax, buff, vacuum, or sweep floors, stairs, classrooms, gyms, locker rooms, libraries, offices, commons, hallways, restrooms and other designated areas.
• Respond to emergency cleanup situations.
• Keep the custodial/maintenance room clean and well-maintained.
• Replace lighting as needed.
• Maintain building security by securing exterior doors, testing and resetting fire alarms as necessary, and performing other security tasks.
• Assist in third-party deliveries by unloading school supplies and equipment.
• Restock shelves with cleaning supplies.
• Clean all areas of building in summer months as directed.

Maintenance position opportunity with Monticello Schools.

This position is located at the Middle School with the hours of 5:00am - 1:30pm Monday - Friday

Maintenance/Repair

The duties of our Custodial staff will include:

• Perform routine preventative maintenance upkeep on equipment.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance.
• Assist with major repairs and maintenance.

• Maintain maintenance records and inventory, as needed.

Hourly Pay Range: $21.05 - $26.93 per the current Custodial Master Agreement 2025-2027

Overtime Eligibility

All positions within the Custodial & Maintenance unit are eligible to elect and/or be delegated intermittent overtime assignments.
