Qualifications

Overview:

The Maintenance Lead works with Mechanical and Electrical systems on production equipment and assists maintenance teams. This position is responsible for performing electrical and mechanical installations, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment, with additional duties to assist the Department Supervisor. It provides basic oversight and assistance for the assigned department and employees during times when the supervisor is unavailable or during off-shift hours.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Coordinate with the department supervisor to maintain daily Maintenance PM/planned work schedules; ensure all materials are available to meet daily production needs.
  2. Provide basic direction and feedback to the assigned department employees.
  3. Collaborate with the supervisor when problems cannot be resolved, rule violations are found, or there are equipment concerns. Call the supervisor if a problem cannot be resolved.
  4. Assist Maintenance personnel and Purchasing staff in identifying parts needed to complete repairs. Order needed parts/supplies to minimize downtime. Assist in maintaining proper inventory of spare parts.
  5. Monitor production to ensure materials and finished goods meet quality standards.
  6. Provide technical support to Maintenance staff for resolving maintenance issues.
  7. Ensure safety of the work area; ensure employees follow safety procedures, including forklift driving and machine operation. Conduct safety meetings regularly and keep work areas clean and organized.
  8. Act as liaison between Maintenance, Sales, Production, and Shipping departments.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
  • Associates Degree in Electro-mechanics or similar, Apprenticeship in Electromechanical Maintenance, or High School Diploma/GED with equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience and knowledge in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems, and machine shop tools.
  • Ability to read, modify, and create electrical diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Experience installing and modifying VFDs, troubleshooting, and programming PLCs (e.g., Allen Bradley).
  • Experience with conduit wiring, relays, controls, and motor controls.
  • Advanced knowledge of AC and DC motor drives.
  • Proficiency with electrical test tools such as multi-meters, amp-meters, and oscilloscopes.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Word and Excel.
  • Ability to coordinate people and equipment to meet production goals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
