Job summary

Sotalent is hiring an experienced electrician to maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical and control systems supporting industrial equipment and facility operations in a fully onsite role in St. Joseph, Illinois.

You will work independently and with operations teams to resolve technical issues, keep accurate equipment records, and contribute to safety improvements and preventive maintenance programs.

Qualifications

• Journeyman-level electrical experience and safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Maintain electrical, mechanical, instrumentation and control systems in production facilities.
• Perform repairs, servicing, troubleshooting and inspections per procedures.
• Support electrical safety programs and compliance requirements.
• Follow OSHA, PSM and site safety guidelines and improve processes.
• Document equipment records, drawings and related documentation.
• Support reliable operations and minimize downtime.
• Take on additional duties as needed.

Salary: $74,457–$82,730 per year, plus eligibility for an annual bonus

Sign-On Bonus: $5,000 for eligible external hires

About the Role

An opportunity is available for an experienced electrician to maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical and control systems supporting industrial equipment and facility operations. The role focuses on equipment reliability, preventive maintenance, electrical safety and production uptime in an industrial agricultural environment.

Working independently and alongside operations teams, the successful candidate will identify and resolve technical issues, maintain accurate equipment records and contribute to improvements in electrical safety and maintenance processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and support electrical, mechanical, instrumentation and control systems used in production and facility operations.
• Perform electrical repairs, servicing, troubleshooting and scheduled equipment inspections in accordance with established procedures.
• Support electrical safety programmes and ensure compliance with applicable requirements.
• Follow quality systems, environmental regulations, OSHA requirements, Process Safety Management (PSM) standards and site safety procedures.
• Recommend improvements to electrical systems, safety programmes, processes and equipment.
• Maintain detailed equipment records, technical drawings and related documentation.
• Support reliable production operations and minimise equipment downtime.
• Perform additional duties as required.

Requirements

• Journeyman-level electrical experience.
• Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and the ability to interpret its requirements.
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to operate a company vehicle when required.
• Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to learn additional systems.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Good problem-solving, organisation, multitasking and attention-to-detail skills.
• Commitment to safe working practices and compliance with safety procedures.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, work at heights, stand or sit for extended periods, and lift up to 50 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Flexibility to work overtime, shifts, weekends and holidays during seasonal production peaks.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with work order management and parts inventory systems.
• Knowledge of industrial automation and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
• Industrial maintenance experience involving electrical and mechanical production equipment, hydraulics, motors, gearmotors, instrumentation, controls, HVAC and general maintenance.
• Experience using SAP or similar systems for work orders and parts inventory.

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual base salary of $74,457–$82,730.
• Eligibility for an annual bonus.
• $5,000 sign-on bonus for eligible external hires; internal candidates are not eligible.
