Salary Schedule: Lane6 of the Maintenance Salary Schedule (w/ Journeyman License )

Hours: 8.0 hours/day | 40.0 hours/week

Purpose Statement

The job of Electrician was established for the purpose/s of maintaining electrical systems and components in safe operating condition; providing information on proper operation of electrical systems; identifying location of existing electrical systems; and determining the efficient installation of additional systems.

Essential Functions

• Analyzes drawings for the purpose of identifying location of new and existing electrical systems and determining the efficient installation of additional systems.
• Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
• Assists with snow removal (e.g. shovels, operating a snow blower and/or snowplow, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring a safe environment.
• Attends meetings as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
• Coordinates with administration and other trades for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently.
• Designs electrical systems (e.g. construction projects, etc.) for the purpose of meeting district requirements.
• Directs assigned personnel for the purpose of maximizing the efficiency of the work force and meeting shift requirements.
• Estimates materials and/or equipment needed to complete work projects for the purpose of ensuring timely completion of projects.
• Installs electrical systems (e.g. underground electrical conduit, switchboards, power feeders, branch circuits, lighting equipment, fans, panel boards, transformers, shop equipment, grounding systems, electrical receptacles, ballasts in fluorescent lights fixtures, worn light switches, etc.) for the purpose of providing updated, enhanced and/or upgraded electrical capabilities.
• Prepares documentation for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.
• Procures equipment, supplies and materials for the purpose of maintaining availability of required items and completing jobs efficiently.
• Repairs or modifies electrical systems (e.g. overloads, lighting fixtures, controls and control circuitry for equipment, motors, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring proper/safe operation of equipment and/or complying with local/state building codes.
• Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
• Transports various items (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at the job site.
• Attendance is an Essential Function of this Position
• Physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position. The role requires in-person collaboration, direct interaction with team members, other staff, students, and/or guardians, and access to on-site equipment and resources.

• Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

Physical Demands

Very heavy work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The work also requires the following physical abilities in order to perform the essential job functions; balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity and walking.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

• Must be able to adhere to safety practices; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and operating equipment used in electrical repair and installation and other skilled trades (i.e. power and hand tools).
• Must have knowledge of electrical repair; construction work; electrical motor control; National Electrical Code; safety practices and procedures; and health standards and hazards.
• Must be able to adapt to changing work priorities; interpreting electrical plans, prints, and diagrams; and meeting deadlines and schedules.

Experience: Job related experience is required.

• 3rd year electrical apprentice required, journeyman license preferred.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
