JOB GOAL

Performs installation, maintenance, servicing and repairs to the refrigeration, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, lighting systems and plumbing systems. All work relative to carpentry, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and grounds to be done in a satisfactory manner and time for all building components throughout the School District in support of a safe, functional and efficient school operation. Provide assistance to Building Supervisors with maintenance, projects, and support functions in the buildings.

1. Performs skilled work in the maintenance, repair, modification, installation, and construction of wooden and related structures in public facilities. Maintains all fences, gates, and bleachers. Performs rough and finish carpentry work including wooden structures and equipment such as doors, windows, roofs, ladders, floors, benches, desk chairs, fences, and playground equipment, including repairs of structures such as partitions, walls, doors, hardware, and fences, etc.
2. Performs preventative electrical maintenance, repairs and services on all the electrical and other related systems in the District.
3. Performs HVAC mechanical tasks, including installing, maintaining, and repairing air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, towers, servicing pumps, piping, and sheet metal fabrication.
4. Installs, repairs, and maintains plumbing and irrigation systems, including pumps, water lines, sprinkler heads, automatic valves, and controllers.
5. Operates hand tools, power tools, machines, and mechanical systems
6. Operates and transports heavy equipment, including tractors with loaders, dump trucks, aerators, small and large area mowers and pick-up trucks pulling heavy equipment trailers.
7. Assist in all aspects of a project, such as design, layout, material requirements, cost, and labor estimates. Accurately order and account for material and labor in relation to assignments.
8. Makes suggestions and recommendations and informs building supervisors of any concerns or issues
9. Salts and plows during winter months to include secondary campus and elementary schools as needed.
10. Responds to emergency situations, vandalism, power failures, storm damage, and water pipe failures.
11. Performs all assigned work in a safe manner. This includes using all safety equipment when required and maintaining all tools in a safe operating condition.Maintains equipment, work space, and job sites in a clean and orderly way.
12. Complies with District policy, local, state and federal laws and procedures for the use, storage, and disposal of waste, cleaners, chemicals, and all other products and materials used in performing duties.
13. Maintains District-assigned lawn areas, including cutting and trimming around buildings, fences, and trees. Performs tree and shrub maintenance including planting, transplanting, trimming, removal, and disease
14. Assists with preparation of athletic fields for sporting events, including cutting, dragging, and line painting, for summer sports and band camps.
15. Unloads materials, supplies, and equipment when received.

Specific Electrical Focus
  • Troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain electrical systems in multiple school buildings.
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical panels, transformers, disconnects, breakers, switches, receptacles, lighting, and controls for DC, AC, ,single-phase and three-phase systems and applications
  • Diagnose electrical problems using meters, testing equipment, schematics, and electrical drawings.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical equipment and systems.
  • Maintain and repair interior and exterior lighting systems, including emergency and security lighting.
  • Install and modify electrical circuits for HVAC equipment, pumps, motors, kitchen equipment, classroom equipment, and other building systems.
  • Perform electrical work associated with renovations, additions, and capital improvement projects.
  • Install and maintain low-voltage electrical systems and controls as required.
