Monarch Healthcare Management is seeking a Maintenance Director to oversee all facility maintenance operations across our Minnesota network of 60+ skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. You will manage HVAC, electrical, plumbing, water/sewage, and fire safety systems, perform preventive maintenance, and supervise staff.

The role requires leadership, English fluency, and a background in healthcare maintenance, with boiler licensing and a Minnesota Engineer-Class C license preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have thorough knowledge of general maintenance, such as boilers, HVAC, electrical systems.
• Boiler license is required.
• Leadership ability and the ability to cooperate with staff and Department Directors.
• Background check per Minnesota DHS guidelines.
• Experience in healthcare, skilled nursing or assisted living.
• Minnesota Engineer-Class C license is preferred.
• Two years of maintenance and power plant experience desirable.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to sudden demands.
• Must clearly speak and read/write English.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all facility maintenance operations to keep equipment and building systems safe and compliant.
• Manage plumbing, electrical, HVAC, water, sewage, and fire safety systems; perform preventive maintenance.
• Coordinate contract services and supervise maintenance staff.
• Participate in hiring, evaluations, and onboarding trainings; provide training.
• Manage inventory and purchasing within budget; maintain clear documentation.
• Support compliance and quality improvement through trainings and audits.
• Collaborate with other departments while upholding resident rights and confidentiality.
• Be available for evening or weekend coverage when required.

Maintenance Director

Position Summary

The Maintenance Director is responsible for overseeing all facility maintenance operations, ensuring equipment, building systems, and outdoor areas are safe, functional, and compliant with regulations. This role manages plumbing, electrical, HVAC, water, sewage, and fire safety systems; performs and documents preventive maintenance; coordinates contract services; and completes routine repairs. The Maintenance Director supervises maintenance staff, assigns tasks, participates in hiring and evaluations, and provides training during onboarding. Additional responsibilities include managing inventory, ordering supplies and equipment within budget guidelines, and maintaining clear purchasing documentation. The position also supports compliance and quality improvement efforts by staying current with state and federal regulations, attending trainings and audits, and contributing to policy development. A professional and collaborative approach is essential, as the Maintenance Director supports other departments, upholds resident rights and confidentiality, and is available for evening or weekend needs when required.

Qualifications

• Must have thorough knowledge of general maintenance, such as: boilers, heating and air conditioning units, refrigerators and freezers, electrical wiring, etc.


• Boiler license is required.


• Must possess leadership ability and the ability and willingness to cooperate and communicate with all staff and Department Directors.


• Must qualify for employment, after criminal background study, per guidelines of the Minnesota Department of Human Services.


• Experience in healthcare, skilled nursing facility or assisted living community


• Minnesota Engineer-Class C license is preferred


• Two (2) years of experience in maintenance and power plant work is desirable.


• Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and pivot with sudden demands of your attention


• Ability to clearly speak and proficiently read and write in English
