Job summary

Monarch Healthcare Management is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support the facility's maintenance operations under the Maintenance Director. Responsibilities include routine maintenance, safety compliance, equipment and supply management, and fostering safe, clean environments for residents and staff.

The role requires knowledge of boilers, HVAC systems, electrical wiring, and experience in healthcare settings is desirable. Boiler license is strongly recommended.

Qualifications

• Must have thorough knowledge of general maintenance including boilers, HVAC, refrigerators, and electrical wiring.
• Boiler license is strongly recommended.
• Two years of maintenance and power plant experience desirable.
• Experience in healthcare, skilled nursing facility or assisted living community preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support Maintenance Operations: assist in planning, organizing, and performing routine maintenance, repairs, and preventive programs for the facility.
• Systems and Safety Compliance: maintain fire alarms, emergency electrical systems, HVAC, water/sewage systems, ensuring adherence to regulations.
• Equipment and Supply Management: assist with ordering, receiving, storing, and documenting maintenance equipment and supplies; maintain inventory and report repairs.
• Facility Cleanliness and Safety: keep areas clean and safe, identify hazards, coordinate preventive maintenance visits.
• Professional Conduct and Communication: foster positive relationships with residents, staff, families, and visitors; uphold confidentiality and proper dress and behavior.
• Training and Compliance: participate in inspections, audits, workshops; stay updated on policies and safety procedures.

Maintenance Assistant

Position Summary

The Maintenance Assistant is responsible in cooperation with the Maintenance Director for the overall maintenance of the facility. By performing repairs and maintenance on equipment and supplies, ordering and requisitioning supplies and equipment as needed. They perform regular scheduled maintenance checks and documents them as needed. The position assists in the evaluation and efficient operation of all systems and equipment and recommends changes, as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Support Maintenance Operations
  Assist the Maintenance Director in planning, organizing, and performing routine maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance programs for the facility.
• Systems and Safety Compliance
  Maintain fire alarms, emergency electrical systems, HVAC, water/sewage systems, and ensure adherence to federal, state, and facility safety and infection control regulations.
• Equipment and Supply Management
  Help with ordering, receiving, storing, and documenting maintenance equipment and supplies; maintain inventory and report or repair equipment as needed.
• Facility Cleanliness and Safety
  Maintain clean, safe indoor and outdoor areas, identify and eliminate hazards, and coordinate preventive maintenance visits.
• Professional Conduct and Communication
  Promote positive relationships with residents, staff, families, and visitors; maintain confidentiality, dress code, and courteous behavior while supporting customer service and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
• Training and Compliance
  Participate in inspections, audits, workshops, and continuing education; stay updated on facility policies, Minnesota Department of Health regulations, and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Must have thorough knowledge of general maintenance, such as boilers, heating and air conditioning units, refrigerators and freezers, electrical wiring, etc. Boiler license is strongly recommended.
• Must possess leadership ability and the ability and willingness to cooperate and communicate with all staff and Department Directors.
• Two(2) years of experience in maintenance and power plant work is desirable.
• Experience in healthcare, skilled nursing facility or assisted living community.
