Job summary

Monarch Healthcare Management is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support the Maintenance Director in keeping Minnesota facilities safe, efficient and compliant. You will perform repairs, schedule preventive maintenance, manage supplies, and document work to help operations run smoothly.

Candidates should have practical knowledge of boilers, HVAC, electrical systems, and a willingness to collaborate with staff.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of general maintenance, boilers, heating/air conditioning units, electrical systems and safety protocols.
• Strong leadership and ability to communicate with all staff and department directors.
• Two years of maintenance and power plant experience desirable; healthcare facility exposure valued.

Responsibilities

• Support Maintenance Director in planning, organizing, and performing routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance for the facility.
• Maintain fire alarms, emergency electrical systems, HVAC, water/sewage systems; ensure compliance with state and facility safety regulations.
• Assist with ordering, receiving, storing, and documenting maintenance equipment and supplies; manage inventory.
• Maintain clean, safe indoor/outdoor areas; identify hazards and coordinate preventive maintenance visits.
• Foster professional conduct and effective communication with residents, staff, families, and visitors; support QA initiatives.
• Participate in inspections, audits, and training; stay updated on facility policies and health regulations.

Maintenance Assistant

Position Summary

The Maintenance Assistant is responsible in cooperation with the Maintenance Director for the overall maintenance of the facility. By performing repairs and maintenance on equipment and supplies, ordering and requisitioning supplies and equipment as needed. They perform regular scheduled maintenance checks and documents them as needed. The position assists in the evaluation and efficient operation of all systems and equipment and recommends changes, as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Support Maintenance Operations Assist the Maintenance Director in planning, organizing, and performing routine maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance programs for the facility.


• Systems and Safety Compliance Maintain fire alarms, emergency electrical systems, HVAC, water/sewage systems, and ensure adherence to federal, state, and facility safety and infection control regulations.


• Equipment and Supply Management Help with ordering, receiving, storing, and documenting maintenance equipment and supplies; maintain inventory and report or repair equipment as needed.


• Facility Cleanliness and Safety Maintain clean, safe indoor and outdoor areas, identify and eliminate hazards, and coordinate preventive maintenance visits.


• Professional Conduct and Communication Promote positive relationships with residents, staff, families, and visitors; maintain confidentiality, dress code, and courteous behavior while supporting customer service and continuous quality improvement initiatives.


• Training and Compliance Participate in inspections, audits, workshops, and continuing education; stay updated on facility policies, Minnesota Department of Health regulations, and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Must have thorough knowledge of general maintenance, such as boilers, heating and air conditioning units, refrigerators and freezers, electrical wiring, etc. Boiler license is strongly recommended.


• Must possess leadership ability and the ability and willingness to cooperate and communicate with all staff and Department Directors.


• Two (2) years of experience in maintenance and power plant work is desirable


• Experience in healthcare, skilled nursing facility or assisted living community
