Job summary

Compass Connections is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor for our facility in Harlingen, TX. You will oversee custodial, maintenance, grounds keeping, and safety operations to ensure compliant, reliable services for children and staff.

The role requires 5+ years in facilities maintenance and 2+ years supervising others, plus a high school diploma and certifications such as First aid/CPR. A drug screen, background checks, and flexible scheduling including evenings/weekends are required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Conduct monthly inventory and coordinate with contractors/subcontractors.
  • Plan and participate in meetings, budgeting, and short/long-term planning.
  • Maintain safety, health, and environmental standards for buildings/equipment/vehicles.
  • Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Salary: 77,251.00 Annually

Language Requirement: Fluency in English is required.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm - Open to work weekends as needed

Academic Req:

Certifications: Required - High school diploma, or equivalent; Preferred - Some college or technical

Certifications: First aid, CPR, Emergency behavior intervention

Work experience:

Required - Five (5) or more years providing building and equipment maintenance services in a facility with multiple structures/systems and vehicles and two (2) years of supervising others providing maintenance service

Critical Action Items & Measurable Deliverables:
  1. Meet all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards that are applicable to this position.
  2. Oversee and remediate deficiencies associated with federal and state standards and requirements.
  3. Conduct regular active and archival video monitoring of the site.
  4. Participate in service expansion planning, budget preparations, and short- and long-term planning.
  5. Evaluate the use of resources to ensure that expenses for materials and services are managed effectively and quality services are provided.
  6. Plan and participate in scheduled meetings, team decisions, and operations.
  7. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff from other departments and community partners.
  8. Complete a monthly inventory of onsite and offsite items in accordance with A-133 guidelines.
  9. Coordinate activities with contractors and subcontractors providing services to the facility.
  10. Conduct and submit water system inspections to ensure compliance with water quality guidelines.
  11. Maintain compliance with applicable safety, health, and environmental standards and laws for buildings, equipment, and vehicles.
  12. Immediately elevate any non-budgeted safety needs through the chain of command for resolution.
  13. Maintain an on-call system for maintenance emergencies outside of regular working hours which require an immediate (within 15 minutes) response.
  14. Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed or requested by the position supervisor.
  15. Implement Compass Connections safety protocols, including evacuating with children and other staff in case of an emergency.
  16. Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the service population and program operations.
  17. Maintain Compass Connections professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in the Compass Connections employee handbook, including demonstrating respect for agency staff, children, and community members and complying with the required dress code at all times.
Other Responsibilities:
  1. Hire, train, supervise and provide performance feedback to personnel who provide custodial, maintenance, grounds keeping, and laundry services in accordance with agency policies and procedures and federal and state standards and requirements.
  2. Regularly observe and evaluate buildings, grounds, equipment, staff, vehicles, and other program resources and address issues and problems as needed.
  3. Complete, accurate documentation in accordance with agency policies and procedures and contract and regulatory requirements, standards, and timelines.
  4. Monitor custodial, maintenance, and grounds keeping services to ensure that safety and health issues are given first priority and appropriate precautions are taken when work is done.
  5. Frequently traverse from one area of the physical plant to another.
  6. Meet all deadlines required by the program supervisor and federal partners.
  7. Other duties as assigned.
  8. Foster Care Programs - Support, encourage, and recruit foster parents.
Requirements:
