Job summary

Life Care Centers of America is seeking a Maintenance Director to oversee the entire Maintenance department, ensuring compliance with laws and Life Care standards. The role requires coordinating preventive maintenance, supervising staff, and managing budgetary aspects to support a safe, efficient post-acute care environment.

The ideal candidate has proven knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, ability to read blueprints, and familiarity with local building codes.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' maintenance experience.
  • Knowledgeable of local building codes and ordinances.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Proven knowledge of various mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, supervise, and direct maintenance programs.
  • Schedule preventive maintenance, repairs, and replacements.
  • Inspect equipment/systems regularly for proper functioning and safety.
  • Recruit, select, hire, evaluate, train, counsel, and supervise maintenance staff.
  • Perform duties as a Maintenance Assistant as needed.
  • Effectively manage and operate within budget.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients.
  • Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team.

Position Summary

The Maintenance Director is responsible for the overall operation of the Maintenance department in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care's standards.

Education, Experience, And Licensure Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two (2) years' maintenance experience
  • Proven knowledge of various mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Knowledgeable of local building codes and ordinances
Specific Job Requirements
  • Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
  • Knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the post acute care facility
  • Implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department
  • Perform proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to: patient rights, and safety and sanitation
  • Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
  • Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care's Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training
Essential Functions
  • Plan, supervise, and direct maintenance programs

  • Run errands, handing incoming and outgoing freight, and lift and move heavy furniture and equipment
  • Recruit, select, hire, evaluate, train, counsel, and supervise maintenance staff
  • Perform duties as a Maintenance Assistant as needed
  • Effectively manage and operate within budget
  • Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients
  • Assist in the evacuation of patients
  • Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
  • Concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment
  • Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team
  • Sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours
  • Read, write, speak, and understand the English language
