Job summary

Life Care Centers of America is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to provide quality maintenance support at our Columbia, SC facility. You will assist with preventive maintenance, repairs, and replacements while ensuring safety and compliance with Life Care standards.

The role requires knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, plus the ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team. A valid driver's license and good driving record are expected.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of one year maintenance experience preferred.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems preferred.
• Knowledge of local building codes and ordinances preferred.
• Valid driver's license in current State with satisfactory driving record per Life Care standards.
• Ability to make independent decisions when warranted.
• Familiarity with facility safety, patient rights, and compliance procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preventive maintenance, repairs, and replacements.
• Inspect equipment and systems regularly for proper functioning and safety.
• Run errands, handle incoming and outgoing freight, and lift and move heavy furniture and equipment.
• Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients.
• Assist in the evacuation of patients.
• Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance and teamwork.

Position Summary

The Maintenance Assistant provides quality maintenance functions to the facility in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.

Education, Experience, And Licensure Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred
• Minimum of one (1) year maintenance experience preferred
• Proven knowledge of various mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems preferred
• Knowledge of local building codes and ordinance preferred

Specific Job Requirements

• Valid driver's license in current State with satisfactory driving record per Life Care standards
• Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
• Knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the post acute care facility
• Implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department
• Perform proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to: patient rights, and safety and sanitation
• Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
• Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
• Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
• Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care's Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training
