Job summary

Dyer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is seeking a full-time Maintenance Director to manage preventive maintenance, repairs, and safety for our Skilled Nursing/Assisted Living facility. You will oversee equipment, furnishings, and property, while coordinating with contractors and departments to maintain a safe, clean environment for residents.

The role requires hands-on maintenance leadership, strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, fire and nurse call systems, and

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as maintenance technician.
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  • Fire systems and nurse call systems knowledge.
  • Driver's license in good standing.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and perform physical labor.

Responsibilities

  • Survey the facility and identify equipment and systems in need of maintenance or repair.
  • Follow established procedures and tasks.
  • Maintain work order procedures to ensure timely repairs.
  • Maintain all equipment in a clean, safe, and serviceable condition.
  • Maintain scheduled maintenance on weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and seasonal cycles.
  • Update logs and maintain accurate records.
  • Ensure safe operating procedures and safe storage of hazardous chemicals.
  • Liaise with contractors and supervise work to ensure completion.
  • Oversee exterior maintenance and snow removal for a clean, safe property.
  • Report unsafe conditions to the administrator and correct as needed.
  • Coordinate with other departments to minimize interruptions to operations.
  • Be available to respond to emergencies at the facility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Administrator.

  • Serve as an effective liaison and supervisor with contractors and ensure proposed work is completed as required
  • Ensure that all exterior maintenance and snow removal is completed to provide a clean, attractive, and safe property
  • Report unsafe conditions, defective equipment, etc. to the administrator immediately, and correct unsafe conditions
  • Coordinate with other departments' schedules to minimize interruptions of normal facility operations
  • Availability to respond to emergencies at the facility at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Administrator
Skills
  • Proven experience as maintenance technician
  • Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA requirements and regulations
  • Working knowledge of tools, common appliances and devices
  • Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills
  • Good physical condition and strength with a willingness to work overtime
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC and refrigeration systems, fire systems and equipment, and nurse call systems
  • Driver's license in good standing
  • Ability to manage budgets and complete maintenance records and reports
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, perform difficult physical labor, and bend, twist, and stand for long period of time
  • High school diploma or equivalent
