Job summary

Harmony ISD is seeking a Maintenance Director to lead the district's maintenance department. This working supervisor role oversees facilities, grounds, and equipment while performing hands-on maintenance with staff.

Requires IPM certification, 5+ years of maintenance experience, 3+ years supervisory experience, HVAC/plumbing/electrical/ carpentry and a Texas driver’s license. Reports to the Superintendent and is a full-time position.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Current Texas Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Certification required.
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial, industrial, or institutional maintenance experience.
  • At least 3 years of supervisory or lead maintenance experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance.
  • Valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and daily supervision of the district's maintenance department.
  • Work alongside maintenance personnel in the repair and maintenance of district facilities, grounds, and equipment.
  • Plan, assign, prioritize, and inspect maintenance work to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and with high quality.
  • Perform skilled maintenance work, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, drywall, roofing, and general building repairs.
  • Develop and implement a preventative maintenance program for all district buildings and equipment.
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules to minimize disruption to instructional activities.
  • Oversee maintenance of district grounds, athletic facilities, parking areas, and outdoor equipment.
  • Manage the district's IPM program in compliance with Texas Department of Agriculture regulations, including maintaining all required documentation.
  • Respond to maintenance emergencies and be available for after-hours callouts when necessary.
  • Obtain quotes, coordinate vendors and contractors, and monitor contracted work.
  • Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, equipment, and parts.
  • Assist with facility improvements, renovations, and special projects.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations, including OSHA standards and district policies.
  • Assist in developing and managing the department budget.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

Position Summary

Harmony Independent School District is seeking an experienced, dependable, and hands‑on Maintenance Director to lead the district's maintenance department. This position is a working supervisor responsible for overseeing all maintenance operations while actively performing maintenance work alongside the maintenance staff.

The Maintenance Director is responsible for ensuring that all district facilities, grounds, and equipment are safe, functional, and well‑maintained while providing leadership, direction, and support to the maintenance team.

Current Texas Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Certification is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and daily supervision of the district's maintenance department.

Physical Requirements
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Climb ladders, work on rooftops, and operate maintenance equipment.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crawl, and climb for extended periods.
  • Work outside normal business hours and respond to emergency maintenance situations when needed.
