Job summary

St. Martin of Tours Academy in La Mesa, CA is seeking a full-time custodian to maintain clean and safe school facilities. The role includes cleaning, trash removal, and light maintenance tasks.

Hours are Monday–Friday 6:30am–3:00pm; FLSA non-exempt status applies. Must pass a background check and be able to read and write English. Join a team serving the school community with a strong emphasis on reliability and safety.

Qualifications

• Prior electrical/maintenance/custodial/technology experience helpful.
• Ability to be self-sufficient and perform outlined tasks with little supervision.
• Background check required.
• Must be able to read, write and understand English.

Responsibilities

• General duties include cleaning and maintenance of school facilities, trash removal, cleaning of school grounds, and other areas as needed.
• Dump all trash from outside areas and lunch area; change plastic liners.
• Sweep outside areas, pick up trash, wipe sinks and clean windows.
• Wipe down lunch tables after each lunch group.
• Clean bathrooms, sweep, replace toilet paper, clean sinks, toilets, and urinals.
• Moderate landscape work as needed.
• Do handy work around the school (change light fixtures, move furniture, clean spills, etc.).
• Order materials/supplies as needed.
• Notify appropriate personnel of repairs by outside contractors.
• Handle and accept deliveries inside and outside the building and move to appropriate location.
• Assist in maintaining the entire facility and all connected operations.
• Other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $25 - $27 per hour

Position Summary

General duties include the cleaning and maintenance of school facilities, trash removal, cleaning of school grounds, and other areas as needed.

• Dump all trash from outside areas and the lunch area. Change plastic liners
• Sweep outside areas, pick up trash wipe sinks and clean windows
• Wipe down lunch tables after each lunch group
• Throughout the day, bathrooms need to be swept, change toilet paper, clean sinks, toilets, and urinals
• Regularly clean drinking fountains
• Moderate landscape work as needed
• Do handy work around the school (change light fixtures, move furniture, clean spillage, etc.)
• Order materials/supplies as needed
• Notify appropriate personnel of structural items or contents needing maintenance or repairs by outside contractors
• Handle and accept deliveries inside and outside the building as necessary and move to appropriate location
• Assist in maintaining the entire facility and all connected operations
• Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to be mobile to, from, and within the facility, as well as maneuver throughout the facility to clean and maintain the property. The employee must be able to perform moderate to heavy manual labor, including frequent bending, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
