Job summary

City of Savannah is seeking a Maintenance Crew Chief to lead a crew in mowing and landscaping neighborhood parks. You will coordinate work, supervise staff, and ensure quality maintenance and beautification projects.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED with four years of landscape maintenance experience; some supervisory experience is preferred, and a valid driver’s license is required.

• Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
• Instructs operators in safety precautions and procedure.
• Performs various skilled tasks in park structure maintenance, repair, alteration, and remodeling.
• Instructs operators in safety precautions and procedure.
• Plans and installs new landscaping features; installs flowers, shrubs, and trees.
• Ensures the correct preparation and application of maintenance, landscaping, beautification, and cleanliness activities.

High School Diploma or GED equivalent; with four (4) years of experience landscape maintenance or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Some supervisory experience preferred.

Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.

Additional Requirements

Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen; and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.
