Town of Carrboro is seeking a skilled Landscaping and Grounds Maintenance Supervisor to supervise and participate in a range of landscaping tasks. The role involves operating various equipment, maintaining parks, and ensuring safety during operations.
The position reports to the Landscaping and Grounds Supervisor and oversees semiskilled workers. Experience in grounds maintenance and CDL-B eligibility are required.
Performs difficult skilled and semiskilled work supervising and participating in a variety of landscaping and grounds maintenance assignments; operates equipment in connection with the tasks assigned; does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Landscaping and Grounds Supervisor. Supervision is exercised over semiskilled workers.
This is very heavy work requiring exertion in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts at or within arm's length, operation of machines, and operation of motor vehicles or equipment; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions, oils, and wearing a respirator.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and considerable experience in landscaping or grounds maintenance and some experience in the operation of motorized equipment.
