Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking a janitorial and maintenance professional to support building and grounds upkeep and safety compliance. The role involves supervising staff, maintaining supplies, and coordinating preventive maintenance to ensure facilities operate safely and efficiently.

The position emphasizes strong adherence to agency guidelines, reliable driving, and the ability to oversee maintenance schedules and inspections across buildings and vehicles.

Qualifications

• High School diploma and four years of experience in equipment, building, and grounds maintenance.
• Supervisory experience required.
• Good driving record required.

Responsibilities

• Performing janitorial and maintenance task according to agency guidelines and expectations.
• Maintaining the grounds.
• Maintain and monitor inventory of all cleaning and maintenance supplies.
• Perform minor repairs and upgrades on building and grounds equipment, HVAC systems, electrical systems, and perform minor carpentry/drywall work to repair or improve facilities whenever possible.
• Review maintenance schedules and ensure agency vehicles receive timely service, inspections, and necessary repairs according to department guidelines.
• Train and oversee consumers with a vocational objective focused on janitorial and maintenance careers.
• Initiate and oversee preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment, facilities, and vehicles remain in optimal working conditions.
• Follow safety practices and actively participate as a member of the area's safety committee o ensure compliance of all safety regulations in the workplace.
