Job summary

Florence County is seeking an Maintenance Area Supervisor to oversee maintenance of recreational facilities, grounds, and equipment, ensuring clean, safe environments for citizens and staff.

The role includes supervising maintenance staff, preparing reports, reviewing records, and serving as the after-hours contact for all facilities under oversight. A CDL and valid SC license are required, with a high school diploma and several years of supervisory maintenance experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Requires a high school diploma supplemented by three to four years of supervisory experience in the maintenance field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Must have valid S. C. driver’s license; performs commercial driver’s license duties while possessing a valid CDL.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise maintenance staff, assign and review work, and maintain standards.
  • Prepare work orders, reports and safety forms.
  • Interact with various groups and individuals and coordinate maintenance activities.
  • Serve as primary after-hours contact for facilities; address issues as needed.
  • Recommend capital items for budget requests.

Job Description

The Maintenance Area Supervisor supervises the maintenance of assigned recreational facilities, grounds and equipment, ensuring the provision of a clean and safe recreational/work environment for citizens and staff.

Essential Functions
  • Prepares athletic fields for that days games.
  • Performs daily custodial care and general maintenance of facilities.
  • Conducts quality control inspections of facilities; ensures compliance with applicable policies, procedures and standards of quality and safety.
  • Evaluates the need for equipment, supplies and materials and gives report to Facilities\Project Superintendent.
  • Operates a vehicle, tractors, paint machine, pressure washer, sod cutter, line machine, weather radar, mechanic’s tools, carpentry tools, and various other hand tools.
  • Assists in the supervision of maintenance staff. Supervisory duties include instructing; assigning, reviewing and planning work of others; maintaining standards; coordinating activities. Informs the Supervisor of employee problems.
  • Reviews the work of direct reports for accuracy; evaluates and makes recommendations; offers training, advice and assistance.
  • Receives and reviews various records including billing invoices, accident reports, schedules, and vehicle maintenance records.
  • Serves as primary contact for all after hours call for facilities under oversight. Responds as needed to address issue.
  • Recommends capital items for inclusion in budget requests.
  • Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals.
Non-Essential Functions
  • Develops and implements procedures and work plans.
  • Coordinates division maintenance activities with other departments/divisions as necessary.
  • Supervises and coordinates the logistics and maintenance requirements for rentals and special events.
  • Prepares a variety of documents such as work orders, maintenance checklists, monthly reports, and safety forms.
  • Assists during special events as needed.
  • Performs all other related duties as required.
