8Fleet, Inc. in Chicago is seeking a hands-on Fleet Maintenance Lead to keep our vehicles ready to drive.

You will schedule maintenance, manage repair shops and vendors, direct our Fleet Specialist team, and monitor downtime and costs in real time. This role requires 3+ years in fleet maintenance, knowledge of vehicle systems, experience with Fleetio, Samsara, and ServiceUp, and availability for a 24-hour operation including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in fleet, automotive or vehicle maintenance.
• Knowledge of vehicle systems and vendor management.
• Experience with fleet software (Fleetio, Samsara, ServiceUp).
• Available for 24-hour operation, including nights/weekends/on-call.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.

Responsibilities

• Own the preventive maintenance schedule for your market.
• Coordinate repairs and track vehicles until back in service.
• Manage outside shops and vendors from scheduling to invoicing.
• Direct the Fleet Specialist team on a day-to-day basis.
• Track downtime and cost per vehicle and keep records and inspections current.
• Escalate unsafe vehicles and safety issues immediately.

About The Role

You'll make sure our vehicles are ready to drive. You'll schedule maintenance, manage repair shops and vendors, direct our Fleet Specialists, and know at any hour what's down and why. This is a hands‑on role. You'll spend as much time in the lot and the shop as at a screen.

We're hiring for Chicago.

What You'll Do

• Own the preventive maintenance schedule for your market.
• Coordinate repairs and track every vehicle until it's back in service.
• Manage outside shops and vendors, from scheduling through invoice review.
• Direct the day‑to‑day work of the Fleet Specialist team.
• Track downtime and cost per vehicle, and keep maintenance records and inspections current.
• Take unsafe vehicles out of service and escal safety issues right away.

What You'll Bring

• 3+ years in fleet, automotive or vehicle maintenance (shop, dealership service, rental, delivery or transit fleet).
• Working knowledge of vehicle systems and experience managing vendors.
• Comfort with fleet software. We use Fleetio, Samsara and ServiceUp.
• Availability for a 24-hour operation, including some nights, weekends and on-call.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Nice to Have

• ASE certification or technician background.
• EV or hybrid experience.
• Experience leading a small team.

Compensation

Base Salary: $65,000–$71,000 + equity
