Job Description Summary
In this role, you will perform a wide range of complex maintenance and troubleshooting tasks to support operations at GNF’s Fuel Manufacturing Operations facility. The position focuses on supporting automated manufacturing systems and control equipment through PLC diagnostics, instrumentation calibration, and both electrical and mechanical repair work. You will maintain, troubleshoot, calibrate, and modify automated equipment and control systems, including PLC-based machinery, electromechanical devices, process instrumentation, and nuclear measurement or radiographic systems. The role requires proficiency in reading technical documentation, using advanced test equipment, and collaborating across engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure equipment reliability, system accuracy, and compliance with operational standards.
This is for a 2nd shift position. Typical working hours are 3PM - 11PM but may vary to support business needs. Starting pay is $41.34/hour, increasing to $41.97/hour after 6 months of satisfactory performance. Additionally, there is a $1/hour bonus for working an off-shift schedule.
Essential Responsibilities
- Maintain, repair, calibrate, and perform preventive maintenance on automated manufacturing and quality assurance systems, including PLC-controlled machinery, mechanical/electromechanical equipment, process instrumentation, nuclear measurement, radiographic, and ultrasonic systems.
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, parts lists, and ladder logic. Understand vendor maintenance manuals for proper calibration and maintenance.
- Troubleshoot computer hardware, software, and interface peripherals. Possess thorough knowledge of mechanical, electronic, and microprocessor-based programmable controllers. Keep updated on process control technology through self-study, training, or vendor courses.
- Use advanced test equipment and diagnostic software to troubleshoot hardware and software issues. Understand and modify software as needed. Use test equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, multimeters, etc.
- Provide training and diagnostic assistance to team members as needed.
- Install, modify, and update equipment and systems, including documentation.
- Generate equipment information, preventive maintenance, and calibration procedures for documentation.
- Collaborate with vendors, engineers, and maintenance personnel to minimize downtime.
- Acquire extensive knowledge of automated equipment and nuclear measurement techniques through various training methods.
- Work with quality assurance, engineering, and other groups to resolve equipment issues.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment, adhering to safety practices and regulations.
- Follow safety procedures, use PPE, and lead safety practices among trainees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree in electronics, instrumentation, or related field, or equivalent military/industrial training with five years of relevant experience.
- At least two years of troubleshooting and repairing industrial control equipment.
- Experience reading and interpreting schematics, drawings, and logic diagrams.
- Proficiency with modern test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, calibrators, etc.
- Experience with hand tools, soldering, and electronic repair.
- Knowledge of microprocessor software and control systems.
- Additional experience in building control panels, maintaining automated machinery, or nuclear measurement equipment is preferred.

Eligibility Requirements
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in confined or elevated spaces.
- Willingness to work in radiological areas, pass medical and background checks, and wear PPE.
- Willingness to work other shifts and overtime as needed.
- Valid driver’s license and forklift/aerial lift certification.
- Proficiency with computers and basic math skills.
