The State Highway Administration’s (SHA) District 7 (Howard County) is recruiting for a Maintenance Contract Inspector (Transportation Engineering Technician IV). This position is open to applicants who meet the minimum and selective qualifications listed below. The resulting list of eligible candidates will be used to fill this vacancy or similar roles. Reapplication is necessary for future recruitment.
This role involves inspecting and providing technical direction for maintenance and construction projects, overseeing force accounts, and supporting engineering tasks. It is a senior technical or supervisory position, offering guidance to less experienced staff and potentially supervising projects, crews, or units. Work is performed under the supervision of an engineer, surveyor, or senior technical staff.

Note: Education in civil engineering or related fields from an accredited institution can substitute for experience at a rate of 30 semester credits per year, up to three years. An associate’s degree in engineering, construction management, surveying, or related technology counts as two years of experience. Candidates must hold and maintain a valid Maryland driver’s license.
