Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED or vocational cert plus 5–7 years in building maintenance and construction.
  • Ability to follow structural drawings and use carpenter tools; Massachusetts Building Code knowledge is a plus.
  • Valid Massachusetts driver’s license; must be insurable under CHA policies; pass Carpenter’s Test.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize general machines and hand tools (table saws, band saws, squares, sanders, drills, routers).
  • Install stairs, cabinets, countertops, door frames and windows of standard and nonstandard sizes.
  • Lifts heavy objects; performs renovations and new work construction; erects rough framing and finishes trim.
  • Designs and installs office furniture like shelves and tables; maintain workspace and tools per safety rules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
