Job summary

Cambridge Public Schools is hiring a Carpenter Senior IV in the Facilities Department. The role involves skilled carpentry across district facilities, including repairs, builds, and installations, with exposure to industrial environments and safety considerations.

Candidates should have a high school diploma with extensive carpentry experience, a valid Supervisor license or equivalent, and a valid D-class driver’s license. OSHA 10 is a plus; union salary schedules apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or the equivalent plus ten years of progressively responsible carpentry/maintenance experience.
• Ability to read blueprints, sketches, manuals and other instructions.
• Must possess Construction Supervisors License and/or qualifications to apply for building permits.
• Must have a valid D-class driver’s license.
• Ability to work in a service-oriented environment with changing priorities.
• OSHA 10 certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build, repair and install counters, stairs, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, doors, building framework and trim.
• Install/repair sheetrock, cove base, studs, ceilings, insulation, finishes and hardware.
• Install/repair locks, key systems and input on rekeying for new buildings.
• Review drawings/specifications to follow CPS keying practices.
• Assemble and transport furniture and items to CPSD sites.
• Use carpenters’ tools; perform preventative maintenance on building envelopes and equipment.
• Handle work orders and ensure safe, clean work environments.
• Order materials as needed and assist with non-carpentry tasks as required.
