Description: Seeking a qualified Maintenance & Building Crew Laborer - $18 to $28 per hour based on experience

Riverside Operating, a subsidiary of Riverside Energy Michigan, is a natural gas producer with operations across Northern Michigan, Indiana, and Texas. With over 230 employees, Riverside is the leading natural gas producer in Michigan, operating over 5,000 wells and supplying over 50% of the natural gas produced in Michigan.

The Maintenance & Building Crew Laborer is responsible for supporting construction, renovation, repair, preventative maintenance, and special projects throughout the year. Projects aim to increase production and maintain facilities. The role requires applying basic and advanced skills, technical concepts, and SOPs to perform routine and complex operations, using appropriate tools and equipment. Basic knowledge of construction standards and willingness to learn are essential.

This is a W2, 40+ hour position with competitive wages and benefits. The role involves working independently across Northern Michigan, with a company vehicle (approximately 150 miles/day), company iPhone, and iPad provided.

Physical, outdoor work year-round in all weather conditions is required. Use of tools and construction equipment is frequent. Personal hand tools are required; specialty tools will be provided by the company.

Reports to: Plant and Construction Supervisor

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs on facilities, buildings, and equipment
  • Inspect and document findings; recommend actions to reduce costs and increase production
  • Follow company, federal, state, safety, and environmental policies; operate company vehicles (~150 miles/day)
  • Demonstrate cooperative behavior and work closely with various departments; take initiative and work independently
  • Perform tasks such as weed trimming, trash cleanup, snow removal, equipment servicing, and other duties to ensure smooth operations
  • Operate tools and equipment, including hand tools, lifts, and oilfield equipment; work at heights with safety harnesses
  • Attend safety and operational training, including H2S, confined space, and defensive driving

Requirements:

  • Self-motivated with a focus on facility maintenance and safety
  • Respond to emergency calls within northern Michigan; travel as needed
  • Pass pre-employment screenings and maintain a valid driver’s license and DOT medical card (company covers physical costs)
  • Own hand tools up to 1 1/4"; reside within 20-60 miles of reporting stations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and iPhone/iPad apps

Physical/Environmental Conditions:

  • Exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, heights, weather extremes, and confined spaces
  • Training provided for safety procedures and equipment use
  • Manual dexterity, strength, and good vision/hearing are necessary
  • Outdoor work (~90%) in varying weather; physical activity includes standing, walking, lifting, and reaching

Schedule:

  • Typically 4-10 hour days or 5-2 schedule, Monday–Friday, based on operational needs
  • Unpaid 30-minute meal break, usually between 11:30 am and 1:30 pm

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Provided by company: goggles, hard hats, suits, respirators, fall protection, H2S monitors, and hearing protection
  • Employee-provided: safety boots (stipend provided), gloves, flame-resistant clothing
