Maintenance Automation Technician - 2nd Shift

Shift: 2:30 PM - 12:30 AM | Hourly Rate: $39.90

The Automation Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving automation, controls, and technology systems and equipment across the facility. This role involves electrical and automation maintenance, adhering to safety regulations, and ensuring GMP and quality standards are met to support efficient production. The technician reports to the Maintenance Manager and works onsite at the Council Bluffs location. Starting rate is $35.90 per hour, with a $0.60 attendance incentive for 2nd shift.

Essential Job Functions:

• Work scheduled hours and overtime as required
• Maintain regular attendance to meet production needs
• Adapt to a fast-paced, changing environment
• Read, write, and understand instructions in English
• Identify problems, analyze data, and draw conclusions
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost
• Build positive working relationships and work both independently and as part of a team
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical personnel
• Travel for training and improvement activities
• Lift up to 75 lbs.

Job Responsibilities:

• Promote Conagra Brands' values
• Develop and implement automation technologies
• Train technicians in automation maintenance techniques
• Ensure safety regulations and GMP guidelines are followed in automation processes
• Provide technical support across the facility
• Interpret electrical schematics and manuals
• Troubleshoot process issues using appropriate tools and diagnostics
• Diagnose control networking issues using advanced network troubleshooting
• Collaborate with IT to maintain automation servers
• Organize and backup automation documentation
• Follow all safety and GMP procedures, including PPE requirements

Skills Required:

• Knowledge of maintenance cycles and procedures
• Experience with electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control systems
• Ability to read technical drawings and schematics
• Knowledge of electronic components and automation software (e.g., Rockwell Automation)
• IT skills, including troubleshooting and resolving issues
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP (preferred)
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to perform basic math operations and measurements
• Excellent vision and perception abilities
• Knowledge of plant safety, GMPs, and confined spaces
• Valid LOTO/PIT certification

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required. Two-year technical certificate or equivalent experience preferred.
