Job summary

Pilgrim’s is seeking an Industrial Mechanic to perform troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair of feed mill equipment and facilities. The role involves coordinating with production teams, interpreting drawings, and maintaining equipment to minimize downtime.

Work hours are Monday–Friday 7am–3:30pm with on-call duties as needed. Responsibilities include repairing mechanical systems, identifying parts, performing preventive maintenance, and using standard and metric measurements.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1-2 years industrial maintenance experience.
• Ability to read general math and write.
• Basic mechanical skills and knowledge of standard and metric measurements.
• Ability to work overtime including holidays, nights, and weekend shifts.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Able to stand for extended periods and perform lifting up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Construct, maintain and test mechanical equipment, machinery and components.
• Identify parts or machines needing replacement parts.
• Use shop mathematics to complete assignments.
• Interpret drawings to adjust, maintain or repair machinery.
• Respond to production area requests for mechanical support and diagnose problems.
• Perform preventive maintenance and ensure issues are repaired before shift end.
• Operate forks lifts and aerial lifts as needed.
• Communicate with production management to diagnose problems and plan solutions.
• Complete assigned tasks accurately within time and resource constraints.

Primary Role: Industrial Mechanic

Mechanic will safely and efficiently perform troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and all tasks related to the maintenance of all feed mill equipment and facility. Typical tasks include troubleshooting and repairing components, testing, and working with production team members.

Description/Job Summary

This position is responsible for repairing and maintaining all aspects of the feed mill facility. Scheduled to work Monday - Friday from 7am-3:30pm, and weekends as needed. Responsible for on call duties as required and all found problems repaired before finishing shift.

Responsibilities/Duties

• Construct, maintain and test mechanical equipment, machinery and components
• Identify parts or machines needing new or replacement parts
• Utilize shop mathematics to complete assignments
• Interpret drawings of equipment in order to properly adjust, maintain or repair machinery
• Respond to requests by production area when mechanical issues with equipment have been identified
• Communicate with production management and personnel to diagnose problems and to determine potential mechanical problems
• Perform preventive maintenance
• Complete assigned tasks with accuracy and efficiency, in regards to time as well as resources
• Other duties as assigned
• Operate fork lifts, loaders, scissor lifts, and aerial lifts

Required Skills/Qualifications

• Reading, General Math and Writing Skills.
• Organized and able to multi-task.
• Basic mechanical skills and knowledge of standard and metric measurements
• Minimum 1-2 years industrial maintenance experience
• Knowledge of industrial manufacturing equipment
• General knowledge of welding/fabrication
• General knowledge of both low and high voltage electrical
• Ability to work overtime including, holidays, nights, and weekend shifts
• At least 18 years of age
• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• Willing and able to stand for several hours.
• Ability to work in varied indoor/outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc. with use of PPE
• Ability to work in elevated areas
• Ability to perform physical job duties including bending, lifting up to 50 lbs., kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting, with or without reasonable accommodations

Preferred Knowledge/Skills

• General knowledge of boilers/steam systems
• General knowledge with programming technologies, such as programmable logic controllers (PLC) and variable frequency drives (VFD)
• Technical school preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
