Job summary

Global Cellulose Fibers in New Bern, NC seeks a Mechanical Maintenance Associate to support journeymen in routine maintenance and to grow through our Manufacturing Training program. The role is hourly full-time with a 7am–3pm shift, on-site at New Bern Mill, requiring safety compliance and willingness to work rotating schedules.

You must meet eligibility to work in the US and have relevant maintenance experience or education.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; related certifications preferred.
• 1 year of maintenance experience in millwright, machinist, lubrication, welding, or pipefitting OR 1 year vocational/technical education.
• Willingness to work industrial conditions and undergo drug screen and health assessment.

Responsibilities

• Assist journeymen-level mechanical maintenance craftsmen in routine maintenance.
• Perform duties independently as assigned.
• Work rotating shifts, overtime, holidays, and weekends as needed.
• Wear required safety equipment and follow safety procedures.

Position Title:

Mechanical Maintenance Associate – New Bern, NC

Pay Rate

$32.77/hr.

Category/Shift

Hourly Full-Time

• Days (7am – 3pm Monday – Friday)

About The Role:

This position will assist journeymen‑level mechanical maintenance craftsmen in routine maintenance work as well as performing many duties independently. Our world class Manufacturing Training program allows you to earn while you learn through hands‑on experiences and classroom instruction in order to prepare you for your next promotion.

About You: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• At least 18 years of age
• Minimum high school graduate, GED, or equivalent work experience
• Eligible for employment in the US
• Must have one of the following:
  • One (1) year experience in any of the following Maintenance Skill Areas: MILLWRIGHT, MACHINIST, LUBRICATION, WELDING, or PIPEFITTING; OR
  • One (1) year vocational/technical education in the Maintenance Disciplines: MILLWRIGHT, MACHINIST, LUBRICATION, WELDING, or PIPEFITTING
• Must be willing to meet the following requirements:
  • Work in industrial conditions (may be warm/hot, dusty/dirty, around hazardous chemicals, noise, heavy machinery, elevated working surfaces, and confined spaces (with proper safety training and safety protection)
  • Undergo a drug screen for illicit use of drugs as a condition of employment
  • Undergo a job‑related health assessment as a condition of employment
  • Submit to periodic drug screens as a condition of employment
  • Work any shift and/or a rotating shift schedule
  • Work overtime on a regular basis and with last minute notification
  • Work holidays and/or weekends on a regular basis
  • Wear required safety equipment

It is preferred that candidates have the following skills and/or experience(s):

• Associates degree or certification(s) in the following related disciplines (Millwright, Machinist, Lubrication, welding, or Pipefitting)
• Relevant work experience in an industrial environment.
• Technical knowledge and experience with:
  • Pump repair and replacement
  • Repacking pumps and valves
  • Rigging
  • Repairing mechanical drive systems, rotating assemblies
  • Bearing installation, maintenance, and replacement
  • Replacing motors, valves, and gaskets
