Job summary

Hendrickson in the United States is seeking a Die Setter for the Press Room to perform tooling setups for various dies in manufacturing equipment.

You will read blueprints and GD&T, apply math to determine shut heights, and ensure part quality with precise measurements using calipers and micrometers.

This role requires at least 3 years of die setup experience, a High School Diploma or GED, and a strong commitment to safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in reading and understanding blueprints and GD&T tolerance.
• Good mechanical aptitude.
• Good understanding of mathematics with the ability to apply this understanding to tasks related to die setup such as calculation of shut height.

Responsibilities

• Set up blank, perf, compound, progressive, and forming dies in presses using established setup documentation procedures.
• Maintain Environmental Health and Safety standards in the workplace.
• Self-manage time efficiently to complete tasks.
• Follow written and oral instructions including safety guidelines and company policies.
• Use calipers, micrometers, radius gauges, pins and other tools to verify critical dimensions.
• Adjust press hit, gaging, and lubrication after inspection to achieve required dimensions.
• Submit first good piece to quality control for verification of measurements.
• Train operators on proper work procedures to maintain part quality and minimize tool wear.
• Maintain dies while in presses.
• Perform press safety check and necessary housekeeping.
• Operate forklift for material handling when needed.

Job Description Position Purpose: Perform tooling setups for various styles of equipment in the Press Room Department.

Hourly Pay Range: $21.50 - $30.25

Essential Functions

• Maintain Environmental Health and Safety standards in the workplace.
• Setup blank, perf, compound, progressive, and forming as needed in the appropriate mechanical or hydraulic press using established setup documentation procedures.
• Self-management skills: Uses time efficiently to complete tasks.
• Ability to work independently: Follows both written and oral instructions, including safety guidelines, work instructions, and company policies
• Utilize common inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, radius gages, pins, and other measuring tools to prove critical in-process or final part dimensions have been obtained.
• If needed, after inspection of part at press, adjust press hit, gaging and / or lubrication to achieve required part dimensions.
• Submittal of first good piece to quality control for verification of measured results.
• After part has been approved Die Setter is responsible for training operator on proper work procedures needed to maintain part quality and minimize tool wear.
• Maintaining Dies While in Presses.
• Perform press safety checklist to ensure safe work environment.
• Perform necessary housekeeping duties.
• Material handling using a fork truck if needed.

Education and Training

High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Min 3 years of manufacturing experience in die setup and tear down.

Physical Demands

• Considerable amount of movement required.
• Lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Sit, stand or bend for extended period of time.
• Dynamic manufacturing environment requiring the ability to "think on your feet".

Environmental Conditions

• Eye protection required at all times.
• Hearing protection required with double hearing protection required while working in the Press Room.
• Exposure to hot & cold temperatures.
• Exposure to noisy conditions.
• Steel toe boots with metatarsals are required at all times.
