Job summary

A.L. Hansen Mfg. Co. is seeking an experienced Die Setter to set and operate automatic punch press dies in a metal stamping environment. The role focuses on keeping presses running at capacity and complying with safety procedures.

You will read blueprints, set dies, train operators, and ensure quality while handling coils and related tooling. Hours are Monday–Friday, with a comprehensive benefits package and long-standing company history.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, work orders, and procedures.
• Must be able to obtain forklift license.
• Use and operate die and material handling equipment.
• Knowledge of Punch Press machines, 35 to 300 ton, coil cradles, straighteners, and feeders.
• Minimum of five years experience setting progressive dies with die protection and programmable limit switches.
• Tools required: pen, magnet, notebook, ruler, micrometer, calipers, protractor, square mirror, flashlight, wrenches, socket set, rolling cart.
• Knowledge of lockout/tag out procedures.
• Knowledge of working with steel, aluminum, etc.
• Experience with inspection procedures.

Responsibilities

• Set dies, feeders, straighteners, reels and cradles.
• Inspect part quality using measuring tools and blueprints.
• Start coils for operations.
• Move dies with paperwork to staging areas.
• Instruct and train operators and material handlers in safe operations.
• Safely transfer materials and scrap with proper paperwork.
• Store materials, containers and scrap properly.
• Monitor feeder, cradle and die operation for malfunctions.
• Maintain clean, safe working area.
• Report problems to supervisor.
• Lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs safely.
• Know and use equipment to manufacturer specs.
• Wear PPE such as ear and eye protection.
• Follow OSHA and company safety standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

A.L. Hansen Mfg. Co., an ISO 9001 certified company, is a leading manufacturer in the commercial hardware industry. We are currently seeking an experienced Die Setter.

Primary purpose of job

Set and operate automatic punch press dies for production in a metal stamping environment. Keep all assigned presses running at capacity while using established safety measures and procedures.

Essential functions of job, frequency and percentage of time on the job:

• 1. Set dies, feeders, straighteners, reels and cradles.
• 2. Inspect part quality using measuring tools and blueprints.
• 3. Start coils for operations.
• 4. Move dies with associated paperwork to and from staging areas.
• 5. Instruct and train machine operators and material handlers in efficient and safe operations of presses.
• 6. Safe operations of equipment necessary to transfer materials, containers and scrap to designated locations with correct paperwork.
• 7. Store materials, containers and scrap in proper locations.
• 8. Watch feeder, cradle and die operation for malfunctions.
• 9. Maintain clean and safe working area.
• 10. Report any problems to a supervisor.
• 11. Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs safety.
• 12. Know and use equipment to manufacturer specifications.
• 13. Must wear personal protective equipment such as ear and eye protection.
• 14. Follow OSHA and Company safety standards.
• 15. Other duties assigned.

Requirements

Required skills, licenses, knowledge, experience or abilities:

• 1. Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, work orders, and procedures.
• 2. Must be able to obtain license for forklift.
• 3. Use and operate die and material handling equipment.
• 4. Knowledge of Punch Press machines, 35 to 300 ton, coil cradles, straighteners, and feeders. (Bliss and Verson)
• 5. Minimum of five years experience setting progressive dies with die protection and programmable limit switches.
• 6. Tools required: pen, pen magnet, notebook, six inch rule, micrometer, calipers, protractor, square inspection mirror, flashlight, a set of combination open and box end wrenches, ratchet and socket set and a rolling tool cart.
• 7. Knowledge of lockout/tag out procedures.
• 8. Knowledge of working with steal, aluminum, etc.
• 9. Experience with inspection procedures.
